http://floralimages.blogspot.com/2015/08/where-rivers-join.html
John Crellin's blog. Now mainly about botanical recording in Brecknockshire. Saturday, August 01, 2015. This is where the Elan (left) flows into the Wye; the Elan, of course, lacking the water taken for water supplies in England and Wales. It is right in the 1km square I have chosen to focus on in that area so on Thursday we set off from a parking spot near the picture. Bird's-foot Troed yr aderyn Ornithopus perpusillus. Beech Fern, Rhedynen gorniog or Phegopteris connectilis. We finished off our day by ...

John Crellin's blog. Now mainly about botanical recording in Brecknockshire. Tuesday, August 25, 2015. This is a catch up - we have been busy! A while back several of us gathered in the Grwyne Fechan Valley for unfinished business from last year. Mike and Chris would do the lane near the car and three of us set up along McNamara's Road. To explore the upper valley. Passing a Beet field with plenty of arable weed species. Crossing the Grwyne Fechan at Tal y Maes Bridge. Heather, Grug or Calluna vulgaris.

Picture by Steph who was Bracken-rolling on the reserve. The additions to our list from the week before were relatively few - but significant. Also we established that some species we saw the week before in small quantity were, in fact abundant. Examples follow:. Wall-rue, Duegredynen y muriau or Asplenium ruta-muraria.

http://floralimages.blogspot.com/2015/07/near-and-far.html
John Crellin's blog. Now mainly about botanical recording in Brecknockshire. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. I set out to record what was growing wild in my immediate environment (Hay-on-Wye) last week and my first outing didn't take me even 100m from the house before I was back to identify some specimens. Things growing in pavement cracks can be harder than usual to identify - especially if trodden on! Among these were: (none of these photographed on the day or where seen.). Sagina apetala subsp. erecta. BSBI W...

John Crellin's blog. Now mainly about botanical recording in Brecknockshire. Sunday, April 26, 2015. Apart from the view from the A40 on the way to Fishguard and then Ireland. Gorse, Eithinen Ffrengig or Ulex europaeus near Bantry, West Cork. And then after climbing Knockboy - the highest mountain in County Cork (no great boast really) I was delighted to see a large patch of Crowfoot on the way down:. Round-leaved Crowfoot, Crafanc-y-frân y rhostir or Ranunculus omiophyllus. Some views from Knockboy:.
