Because time passes so quickly - I would hate for anyone to feel like they lost one special moment. Thursday, March 6, 2008. Lordy, Lordy Look Who's 40! Yeah, I turned 40. How about that! It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky! Mmmmmm.Just a thought. March 12, 2008. Jamie Lynn Spe...

Dick's Pizza: July 2012
http://dicks-pizza.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
A collection of short stories on life, politics, military history, and more. Friday, July 27, 2012. You don’t see that many people hitch hiking these days. Certainly not like in the late ‘50s and ‘60s when I was doing it as a matter of necessity. Where we lived up in Whistler, BC you see quite a bit because we have many young people from all over the world who come to work in the resort. Many do not have cars and hitch back and forth to work. I know. So shoot me. I made two hitching expeditions to Rollin...

Dick's Pizza: June 2011
http://dicks-pizza.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
A collection of short stories on life, politics, military history, and more. Wednesday, June 8, 2011. Pictures of the Yankee. It's your blog "mistress" here! I found some pictures of the Yankee and thought I would share them here. In 1963, the Yankee ran aground in the Cook Islands, off the coast of Rarotonga. Here is what she looked like within months of that accident. This photo, while not dated, is clearly some years later. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Thanks for stopping by to read my blog. If you...

Dick's Pizza: Healthcare Follies
http://dicks-pizza.blogspot.com/2012/06/healthcare-follies.html
A collection of short stories on life, politics, military history, and more. Tuesday, June 19, 2012. This is going to be a two-parter. The first part focuses on ObamaCare and some generalized discussion on the differences between the US…shall we say…“Commercial”, privately-funded healthcare model and the socialized or single payer (government) model. Part Two will discuss my own personal interaction with both systems earlier this year. Anyway, we’ll know soon when the Supremes weigh in. As a si...Canada ...

Dick's Pizza: Healthcare Follies, Part Two
http://dicks-pizza.blogspot.com/2012/06/healthcare-follies-part-two.html
A collection of short stories on life, politics, military history, and more. Friday, June 22, 2012. Healthcare Follies, Part Two. In this post I will chronicle my own personal journey through the Canadian and US healthcare systems with my recent heart surgery. Perhaps that will more clearly explain what you can expect if ObamaCare is not spiked by the Supreme Court with their decision next week. So, under the knife again only this time with big worries about infection. They left tubes in my chest to ...

The Quilted Doghouse: Its a New Year
http://quilterdog.blogspot.com/2011/01/its-new-year.html
A kinda quilty place. Tuesday, January 11, 2011. Its a New Year. It's cold. We're supposed to get snow tonight. I stocked up on all the essentials and we are ready. Luckily, I have some UFOs I can work on to keep me busy. I was encouraged to list 12 UFOs I hope to finish this year, so this is what I came up with:. 1) Christmas Pineapples. From the Common Threads swap, I have a pile of lovely blocks that need to be set and then quilted. 6) Cha Cha Chickens. Love the chickens! 11) Stehekin Quilt. A pre...

The Quilted Doghouse: I'm alive!
http://quilterdog.blogspot.com/2010/10/im-alive.html
A kinda quilty place. Sunday, October 24, 2010. Okay, it's been over a year since I last blogged. I admit - I haven't been very attentive to this process. So much to catch up on. The rest of 2009 was rather uneventful as I recall. 2010 picked up a bit. My mother passed away in March. On her wedding anniversary. I think she planned it that way. Anyway, it's been a pain dealing with her estate and all the various problems she left behind. I think she planned that too. Olivia turned 7 in May. 7! So, today I...

The Quilted Doghouse: Hold on to your hat, Karen!
http://quilterdog.blogspot.com/2011/02/hold-on-to-your-hat-karen.html
A kinda quilty place. Monday, February 14, 2011. Hold on to your hat, Karen! Wow - two blogs in two DAYS! Ehlana was perplexed by the cloth diapers I gave her (best burp cloth-changing pads-wipe ups I can think of! And she was a little underwhelmed by the quilt, but she's young, not a quilter (so she has no idea the time and energy involved), and oh-so-ready to be done with the whole pregnancy thing. Poor thing was just exhausted by the time we got to the present opening. It was the neighbors.
