In every walk with nature, one receives far more that he seeks. John Muir. Eagle Creek →. August 29, 2014. Timberline Lodge was so nice! We had a delicious buffet breakfast at the lodge before hitting the trail. It was a beautiful morning and it was cool to see the ski areas without snow. We started approaching the rivers. The first one was the Zigzag River, then the Sandy, and the last big one was the Muddy Fork. Each river is down in a canyon, so we did a lot of elevation gains and losses. You are comm...

Eagle Creek | Hitting The Trail
https://hittingthetrail.wordpress.com/2014/08/29/eagle-creek
In every walk with nature, one receives far more that he seeks. John Muir. August 29, 2014. We camped at Indian Springs which is at the split where you can either continue on the official PCT, or take the more commonly used Eagle Creek alternate route. It was the last place we will make camp for this trip. We wanted to go through Eagle Creek since we hadn’t ever been there. Right away the trail dropped quickly. It’s hard to capture the steepness in a photo, but it was really steep. Enter your comment here.

Someday I'll hike the PCT . for now I am content with day hikes and being an on-the-trail Trail Angel. Have you seen me? Sunday, September 8, 2013. Sometimes You Are The Rock. Sometimes you're the person on the journey, sometimes you’re the rock beneath their feet. In every walk with nature, one receives far more that he seeks. John Muir. Newer posts →. August 25, 2014. The Garden of Eden. August 25, 2014. We hit the trail @ 8:30. We took our time this morning having coffee. Jim picked huckleberries for my cereal. When we entered Jefferson Park, it was like walking into the Garden of Eden. We were met by wildflowers still blooming. We eventually had to climb out of this wonderful place, but we’ll be back someday. Of course the trail up and out was rocky. It looks a...

In every walk with nature, one receives far more that he seeks. John Muir. Still hiking →. August 31, 2014. Yesterday we picked up our fur babies who were lovingly cared for by family while we went on this adventure. Our dog, Millie, was VERY happy to see us. Toby, our cat, could have cared less. Typical. My niece made this awesome surprise for us. It’s got Jim and me on the trail with Mt. Hood in the background. Complete with our tent, animal prints in the mud and an impressive waterfall. In every walk with nature, one receives far more that he seeks. John Muir. Smith Rock and the Painted Hills. Timothy Lake on the PCT →. June 2, 2014. Jim and I took advantage of the perfect weather we were having. We decided to hike up to Kinzel Lake, in the Salmon River Wilderness area. The first couple of miles are flat and easy. We enjoyed the views of the river and the towering trees. We hiked up, up, UP! This part of the trail was brutal! But, I made it, and don’t have any need to do it again! Round...
