I went home to wait and, sure enough, the postman arrived at my door with not one but three (big) packages for me from the motherland. A quick sup of tempura goodies, soup, and nigiri. And it was finally time to feast my eyes on the tangible examples of care, packaged and sent from my family. What a bounty! The lesson went really well and the kids loved my costume. Dispatches from my life as an English Teacher in Japan. Thursday, March 3, 2011. It snowed quite a lot during the month of February. I am not so used to snow, so it was a welcome addition to my current adventure. One weekend I went with Paul to Shimokitazawa and met up with Harry, Harry’s friend Edward, Paul’s friend Fujiita, and Ernie. We went to a diner for lunch. Paul got tricked into ordering the large. Fugu salad on the left, dipping sauces mid and right. End bit of nabe mixed with egg and rice.

Dispatches from my life as an English Teacher in Japan. Tuesday, April 5, 2011. So much has happened since we last spoke. I went to a mixer in Shibuya on a Saturday night. I met a whole bunch of people and had some great food. Afterwards, I went to Yokohama and spent the night at a friend’s apartment. The next day I went to another all-you-can-eat restaurant. This one had more than just dessert, so I ate a-plenty. Shu mai and gyoza dipped in chocolate. The gyoza was meh, but the shu mai is gooooood!
