September 26, 2013. The Roof of the World. I received word that I was headed to the roof of the world on the AKDN helicopter about 19 hours before I departed. After packing, a short sleep, a ride in an armoured car, and a safety overview from the Swiss pilot, myself and nine others lifted off to scale the Pamirs on the morning of September 18.
