After 21 years of inactivity, the Midleton Railway Station has been reopened to the public. The first train journey on the new Midleton to Cork line took place on 30 July 2009. The opening of this new commuter route cost €75,000,000 as part of the Government's Transport 21 programme. The trains run every 30 minutes at peak times and every hour at off-peak times. Each commuter train has a capacity for 320 passengers, including seating for 129 passengers. The current trains have two carriages.

Midleton Railway Station can be found in Midleton in East Cork. It is ideally situated off the busy Mill Road, roughly 10 minutes walk from the Main Street, passed the roundabout. The station is close to the Market Green Centre, Supervalu Stores and the GATE Cinema. Midleton Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 10am to 1.30pm on Hospital Road, close to Supervalu. CORK COMMUTER RAIL NETWORK. There are 3 stops on the Cork - Midleton line: Little Island, Glouthaune and Carrigtwohill.

There is ample parking space on both sides of the railway, the main car park being on the north side of the station. The fee for car parking is €2 all day, 7 days/week. There are shelters for bicycles, on either side. One is next to the access to platform 1 on Park road side and one faces the car park near the stairs accessing platform 2. There is a timetable on platform 1, as you walk through the entrance, on your right. On fares and travel alerts, go to Irish Rail. 8226; Child under 5 years of age: Free.
