Thursday, June 4, 2015. 13 years ago in Bloomington, IN there was a humongous swarm of cicadas. I love cicadas. I love the noise that they make; it always reminds me of summers gone by. Cicadas remind me of the movie Lucas. The next day, we hung out again, and every day for the rest of the summer too. I was hooked! Where will we be when the 13 year cicadas come back out?

Thursday, December 6, 2012. Grandma was here to do the pumpkin cleaning and carving. Lizzy didn't like getting her hands dirty cleaning out the pumpkin, but Katherine did! Then we had some costume practice. Lizzy liked Mommy's old ballet costume as a martian but in the end we decided it was too cold and she went as a doctor. Lizzy also helped make pumpkin muffins for a Halloween party at school. We added Haribo gummy bats. After all, we do live in the land of the best gummies! An autobahn rest stop picnic.

Katherine got to about the same level as Lizzy had done after her first day of skiing at Geising. She loved it and didn't want to quit even though she was exhausted. Sunday, April 27, 2014. There's wonderful bike riding on 270 km of bike trails that stay close and flat with the shore of this alpine lake as is runs through Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Here is an early morning view from the south eastern corner of the lake, towards the historic border town of Konstanz (Constance). Last nights snow lasted until the afternoon. The easter bunny visited us while we slept at the excellent Youth Hostel in Lindau. A musical clown show closed the day at Ravensburg.

Tuesday, August 27, 2013. We rounded out the celebrations in April with Easter. The girls dyed eggs and earlier in the week and the Easter bunny came with bright baskets overnight.
