Keith Nixon: June 2014
http://keithnixonauthor.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Monday, 9 June 2014. The Last Tiger by Tony Black. Tony Black is a prolific author, putting most of us, me included, with his output, genre variation and downright skill. His most recent novel is The Last Tiger, which has been getting rave reviews. I was lucky enough to get an early peek. Here's my view. But Myoko, after several direct experiences with tigers, vehemently disagrees with his father and, when what is perhaps the last lair is discovered, father and son clash. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Keith Nixon: December 2012
http://keithnixonauthor.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, 29 December 2012. Sad Jingo - Ron Dionne. Jingo Dalhousie is a troubled wannabe musician who works as a janitor in his cousin’s New York jazz club. He finds his unusual name in a highly successful debut novel and feels driven to track the author down and discover why. However, the author has a secret she’s desperate to keep. The focus then shifts to Diana. We learn she used to be a patient at a mental hospital and perhaps she knew Jingo there? He is). Many of these featureless characters ha...

A Newbie's Guide to Publishing: The End of the Bestseller
http://jakonrath.blogspot.com/2011/02/end-of-bestseller.html
Tuesday, February 08, 2011. The End of the Bestseller. And I interview each other in the latest issue of Crimespree Magazine. I've given up doing interviews, because I get a lot of requests and they all ask the same questions. While it's flattering, I hate taking time away from my writing, and I'm making enough money to stop doing things that I dislike. That said, I did do a quick interview with Kirkus for Shaken. Which is being released in print on February 22. 3 Readers buy these books because they hav...

Psychedelic Film Criticism for the Already Deranged. Monday, May 07, 2012. 22 Films that prove 1933 was the greatest year for classic movies. Everyone cites 1939, year of Oz. Oh, and in 1933 prohibition was repealed! The first joyously fulfilled promise from the newly-elected FDR, who, America could feel with a giddy rush, was going to deliver the New Deal he promised. 1 DESIGN FOR LIVING. This movie is still ahead of its time as far as cool-headed artistic approaches to trans-pair bond love affairs....

A Newbie's Guide to Publishing: Ebooks Ain't A Bubble
http://jakonrath.blogspot.com/2011/03/ebooks-aint-bubble.html
Monday, March 07, 2011. Ebooks Ain't A Bubble. Elsewhere on the internets, I've heard the current ebook boom being described as a bubble. One that will eventually burst. A bubble is when people invest more money in something than it is actually worth. Real estate, technology, dot com companies, housing, the stock market, etc. all are investments that might not pay off, and have been called bubbles. But the market won't stay current. Ebooks will become the dominant format for reading fiction. They...There...
