Stories and Reflections of a JV in Chuuk, Micronesia. Wednesday, May 25, 2011. A word of affirmation. Teaching Church History this semester has been a very difficult class. It only met twice a week. That's 2 days a week for a semester to cover almost 2,000 years of theological development and their causes. Not easy for me, and most certainly not easy for the 17 students who had to try and understand and take in all the information I was bombarding them with (with no textbook on top of it! Stories and Reflections of a JV in Chuuk, Micronesia. Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Happy REAL New Year! The holidays were absolutely fantastic and relaxing. It involved relaxing on campus, visiting Saramen more frequently, and spending New Years Eve with my host family (which included embarrassing myself playing volleyball). New Years is celebrated from New Years Eve through Jan 2/3 (people are still saying Happy New Year! Following: a reflection (optional reading! If God had a name, what would it be and...

Stories and Reflections of a JV in Chuuk, Micronesia. Sunday, August 22, 2010. When new JVs arrive, second years are asked to put on a "phase-II" orientation in which we offer opportunity to give a more in-depth orientation regarding specific site placements. For Chuuk, this includes myself and the Saramen second years. All of the FSM JVs arrived only 3 weeks or so ago, and time has flown! Here's a little bit of info on things we've done:. Stories and Reflections of a JV in Chuuk, Micronesia. Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Far be it from me to do a post two days in a row (has it been two days? I really don't remember). But today during 4th period I was hit with a sudden realization, which is the purpose of this inspired blog post (as I was typing this, I had a sudden loss of sanity due to a request from a student, so if this seems disjointed and funnily worded, that's why.I'm just finding many things funny at the moment). One last thing: I am ...

Stories and Reflections of a JV in Chuuk, Micronesia. Tuesday, March 8, 2011. Update and Retreat Reflection. First, I am sorry for not updating. As always, time here has flown and how I've spent my time has not included a desire to blog. In fact, right now it's my inert procrastinating tendencies which help me find time to update (grades are due on Monday, the pile is increasing slowly but surely). Because of the timing. Trying to remain present with such little time (a week or so more than 3 months!

Matt's Motorcycle Diary: December 2009

http://mattinpg.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

The stories of a Volunteer in Belize. Sunday, December 13, 2009. Cayes, Gallos, Indiana Jones, and new room mates. So my life is an adventure. That is pretty much a staple of my new life: absurdity. I was recently laying in my hammock over looking the sea listening to Christmas carols that Belizeans have been playing on repeat since November and I was reflecting the last week or so. My past two weeks are evidence of my absurd adventure that is my life. Recap:. After an hour in said boat we arrived. One o...

The stories of a Volunteer in Belize. Wednesday, November 17, 2010. Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. "- Buddha. Oh the blog conundrum. I have attempted to write three separate blog entries this week, and deleted each one shortly after beginning. Let me spell out how I am feeling about this blog. I am in my second year, so blogging has become more of a burden than something I like. Settlement day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc) . So that ...

Last week my second year community mate, Emily, came back for a visit. The stories of a Volunteer in Belize. Wednesday, May 12, 2010. The boy with a curse. Dear Dougie, this one's for you. Due to content and kick in the pants you gave me to write again. What is this dreaded curse" you ask? Who drives into their own house? Incident number three: I get rammed by a fellow high schooler on the way to a lacrosse game. Luckily not my fault. Then again the insurance company wasn't pleased. After two hours we get help and make our way home. Before this incident I nearly broke my ta...

Matt's Motorcycle Diary: October 2010

http://mattinpg.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

The stories of a Volunteer in Belize. Saturday, October 2, 2010. In my last post I told you how we fled to the city, scared for our lives etc. Well 5 days later I was back up north. This time to get my poo tested. It felt like deja. As I sat in the overly air conditioned waiting room waiting for my test results. It was the last day of September. September of last year I was in the same waiting room, in a considerable more amount of pain, waiting for my results also. Last year it was dengue. Sounds pretty...

The stories of a Volunteer in Belize. Friday, July 9, 2010. I may be a dreamer,. But I believe in faith. Only in the darkness can you see the stars ablaze. In my darkest hour I shall keep my strength and say. Go and let your fire live". Trevor Hall 's song Many Roads. Well once again, the elusiveness of time has passed me by and its been two months since my last update. Whats happened in my life since then? We are quite used to. It was really great to share my life and work and Belizean. My work has slow...

Matt's Motorcycle Diary: pictures and poets..

http://mattinpg.blogspot.com/2010/09/pictures-and-poets.html

The stories of a Volunteer in Belize. Thursday, September 2, 2010. A few pictures supplemented with the words of some of my favorite poets. I've heard within my inmost soul. Such cheerful morning news,. In the horizon of my mind. Have seen such orient hues". The world is charged with the grandeur of God. It will flame out, like shining from shook foil;. It gathers to greatness, like the ooze of oil". I'm learning to fly, but I ain't got wings. The coming down is the hardest thing". Check out my pictures!

Wednesday, 22 July 2015. NZ Register of Acupuncturists meeting (21 st July). Just to say that at the NZ Register of Acupuncturists meeting last Tuesday 21 st July everything went well. We had a good discussion of what needs to go into a case history, and essential questions that should be asked. We also discussed a few interesting cases of patients coming for acupuncture treatment. We also looked at some osteopathy, tui na, and acupuncture cases. Hope this went well for everyone. Monday, 20 July 2015.

Mike in Mongolia

Some thoughts on my time in Mongolia. Saturday, December 11, 2010. A new chapter in Ulaanbaatar and first day nerves. I’ve been back in Mongolia for over 2 months now. I settled back into life here so quickly it was as if I had never left. Seriously, I’m talking hours here not days. When my plane landed at Chinggis Khan airport a number of questions ran through mind. Had I made the right decision in coming back? Did I have the right visa? When was the person sitting to my left going to stop talking to me?
