Mike in the Motherland. Just a guy trying to make it through one hell of a journey. Indiana Jones for a Weekend. December 12, 2011. As a result of our volunteering, the Sea Scouts are letting us take advantage of their facilities free of charge as a thank you. Yesterday was our first of hopefully many experiences with them. To start things off, they gave us the option of sea kayaking or windsurfing. Yours truly chose the later and it was a blast. Dec 21, 2011. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

https://mikeinthemotherland.wordpress.com/2012/01/07/happy-new-year
Mike in the Motherland. Just a guy trying to make it through one hell of a journey. January 7, 2012. Wow I can’t believe it’s January already. This time last year, I was living in an apartment in Chinatown DC working as a contractor with the government. Now I’m living on the beach in Israel, my DC life seemingly a million miles away. Anyway, it’s been a while since I’ve written and I apologize for that. There has been a good amount to talk about but I’ve just been feeling pretty uninspired. April 2012: I...

Mike in the Motherland. Just a guy trying to make it through one hell of a journey. Indiana Jones for a Weekend. November 30, 2011. Let’s begin our picture tour. We start with a walk through the Siq, a winding and surprisingly colorful canyon. The most magical thing about the Siq is the way it unveils the incredible Treasury . And I’m definitely glad we took those donkeys because rather than taking three grueling hours to hike, it only took half an hour. But holy hell, it still would have been worth ...

28 things in 28 days. Thursday, March 14, 2013. Birthday, Oscars, Library of Congress, and Oysters. The final days of my 2013: 28 things in 28 days. Allison’s birthday bash! Beer bong and a keg was included. Happy Birthday beautiful lady! I’m a sucker for the Oscars. And headed to Buffalo Billiards. The service was horrible. And I was personally disappointed with the outcomes of a lot of the winners… but I’m over it now. My oscar ballot: before and after. I went to the Library of Congress. And have visit...

28 things in 28 days. I’m not much for new years resolution and I’m normally not the type of person to give into a 365 day challenge. But I have always wanted to try the 365 photo challenge. So I’m trying it and if one day I wake up in June and decide to give up on it… then that was that. Things that are fact. 1) I’m not a photographer. 2) I take 95% of my photos with my phone. 3) I take pictures of my food/coffee/alcoholic beverages more then I would like to admit. Read or view the images here. Rock on ...

Pretty Much Awesome: October 2012

28 things in 28 days. Tuesday, October 16, 2012. Zion was my first Utah national park. And let me start these following post by saying "I love utah.". I entered the park through what I assumed was the least popular entrance but it had windy roads and amazing views. It also had a mile long pitch dark tunnel that my desire to take a picture of was taken away by my irrational fear of tunnels. After entering the park I had two concerns. 1) getting a spot in the campground. I was told it fills up quickly.

28 things in 28 days. Thursday, November 29, 2012. Bryce Canyons, Capitol Reef, and Canyonlands National Parks. You would think that Blogging and going on a solo cross country road trip would have been easier then it was, but there were a couple of key factors in my way. 1) the lack of great cell service. 2) the lack of someone else driving when I had great service. Bryce Canyons National Park:. I went on what was called was the "World's Best three mile hike." I enjoyed it but it was definitely one o...

I loved Utah and my last stops in this great state were Arches, the Southern part of Canyonlands, Natural Bridges, and the Four Corners. 28 things in 28 days. Sunday, September 30, 2012. At this point my journey this has been my favorite park. I never once got bored or overwhelmed with the crowds. If anything it appears that good looking men flock to Washington. Not that was the reason I enjoyed my day and a half there it was really just a change of pace seeing young people for once over the older folks. The park itself prides itself on being three parks in one:. And each part extended my expectations. Friday, September 21, 2012. Grand Te...

MIKE IN THE GHETTO
MIKE IN THE GHETTO.

Mike in the Middle | Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right
Mike in the Middle. Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the right. Anatomy of a Modern Disaster. This has been an incredibly surreal week. The Boston Marathon Bombing has held my attention pretty much non-stop since it happened. At times I felt awful flashbacks to the days after 9/11 and other times I worried about events that. Mike in the Motherland. Just a guy trying to make it through one hell of a journey. June 19, 2012. So this is the end of my journey. In eight days, I will leave my program. These last ten months have really been something else. It hasn’t always been easy or fun but looking back, it was a hell of a ride. In the past ten months I have accomplished the following:. Visited two new countries (Cyprus and Jordan). Extensively explored the State of Israel. Learned to windsurf (not very well but I still learned).
