Friday, July 31, 2009. Tim Wootton, a really fantastic artist. Tim Wootton is a UK artist from Orkney. I would describe his style as "impressionistic realism," a very tasteful balance between the two styles. I love the depth of color and atmosphere he achieves in his work. There's no doubt he's very talented! From his website ( www.tim-wootton.com. Some of his superb artwork. All images borrowed from. Wednesday, July 29, 2009. A Collection of My Artwork. Wednesday, November 08, 2006. Birds in the Mist. Well, I mentioned that last week Friday, I got to go out to the Clineline wildlife reserve trail for my b-day. The heavy morning fog made it interesting for photography, but I came away with quite a few acceptable photos. I thought these shots were pretty. Hey, has anyone tried switching their blog to the new version? As long as no content (posts, comments) is lost, I'm going to do it. The new template editing capabilities are just too good :). Birds in th...

Thursday, February 01, 2007. As you can see, I've begun painting the water, first establishing some shadows and adding some preliminary highlights. It needs some work, but I like how it's coming along. The bill shape is also corrected. This evening I added the shadow to the head and the left flank- wow! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). An informal birding record. Other fauna and flora. Here are some of my favourite sites, both professional and amateur. It's amazing to think that, when I started out birding, only a tiny fraction of today's knowledge even existed; and most of what did exist was inaccessible. Today, not only is there far greater knowledge - and coverage of important bird areas - but much of this is but one click away, 24/7, on the Internet. Exemplar website from Martin Cade and friends that combines observatory blog (in b...

Axe Birding: Puzzling Garden Warbler
http://stevesbirdingblog.blogspot.com/2015/08/enjoyed-superb-ringing-session.html
A Bird In The Hand. Wednesday, 12 August 2015. Enjoyed a superb ringing session yesterday morning with 43 birds trapped at Lower Bruckland Ponds. I never knew this place was such a fuel station for migrating passerines, but clearly it is. As ever with ringing I wouldn't have had a clue half these birds were there without the nets. The more ringing I do the more I realise field counts are way off the mark, especially when it comes to migration. It was mostly Warblers; 11 Chiffchaff. I really hope someone ...

Axe Birding: Unseasonal Ducks...
http://stevesbirdingblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/unseasonal-ducks.html
A Bird In The Hand. Friday, 31 July 2015. Well I say unseasonal, but in recent years July has proved a good month for wandering wildfowl. I once had a flock of Pochard fly in off the sea during a heavy rain shower in this month - and they are a true patch rarity. Anyway today's oddities were two Gadwall. At Lower Bruckland Ponds, and then these that dropped in out of nowhere. On Black Hole Marsh early yesterday morning, as amazingly it was my first of the autumn! Labels: little ringed plover. Thursday, August 31, 2006. WA Duck Stamp Winners. Is the web page of the wildlife refuge that runs Washington's duck stamp contest. They updated it for 2006, so you can see the winners in each age category. Make sure to look at the youngest category-for 4-5 year olds, those aren't too bad! When school rolls around (next week, ahh! I'll try to post at least twice a month. :). Tuesday, August 29, 2006. I then laid in the dark wing feathers, completed the beak and began detailing the plumage. The head feath...
