strongislandtricoach

Tuesday, February 11, 2014. When I meet with an athlete to begin our athlete/coach relationship, I have many questions about athletic background, general health, available training time and recent training in some form of a log. I realize though that the most important question I ask is "a year from now, how will we know that we were successful? I bring this up in hopes of inspiring athletes to set goals, to set hard to achieve goals, but to set goals that are in their control. Friday, January 31, 2014.

strongislandtricoach: Falling Like A Stone

http://www.mikemonastero.blogspot.com/2010/02/falling-like-stone.html

Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Falling Like A Stone. I've always thought that the quote by wattage group frequent poster Tom Annalt, "FTP is how hard you can go.CTL is how long you can go hard" is pretty true. This is about the lowest CTL I've carried since the introduction of the PMC back in '05. 100 TSS/day has always been my number. Why the difference this year? Well, simply put, I want to be able to go harder! It is the inclusion of more recovery time that has brought my overall volume down.

Saturday, December 27, 2008. On Rainbows and Group Rides. Cartman: Eh. I hate those things. Kyle: Nobody hates rainbows. Stan: Yeah. What's there to hate about rainbows? Cartman: Well, you know. You'll just be sitting there, minding your own business, and they'll come marching in, and crawl up your leg, and start biting the inside of your ass, and you'll be all like, "Hey! Get out of my ass you stupid rainbows! Stan: Cartman, what the hell are you talking about? Stan: What were you talking about? I am an...

Dee Sullivan Triathlete: Down this road before...

http://deesullitriathlete.blogspot.com/2009/11/down-this-road-before.html

Thursday, November 19, 2009. Down this road before. Less than one week to go and I will be in Cozumel! Ten days out from race day and everything is falling into place. I finished my last long training days feeling good and escaping any overtraining or injury! I was hovering on. For a bit, feeling strong, but knowing that I could step over that "edge" very easily. Thankfully I did not step over that edge and I finished strong! I never like to feel. Hydrate, perform some short bursts of intensity to keep t...

Dee Sullivan Triathlete: February 2009

http://deesullitriathlete.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Tour of Cali 2009. Training in Florida ended quite nicely with a solo 5 hour ride and 8 mile build run. Ironically, it was the best ride "watt-wise" that I had put out all week! I think it was due to the "forced concentration" from being alone as well as the knowledge that it was my last long training day before heading out and onto a more "mentally relaxing" (but not necessarily. Trip to see the Tour of California! PIC: Tour of Cali Stage #1.View of the Sierra Nevada's. So no...

Dee Sullivan Triathlete: Am I new to this triathlon thing?!

http://deesullitriathlete.blogspot.com/2009/12/am-i-new-to-this-triathlon-thing.html

Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Am I new to this triathlon thing? Looks like the cruiser bikes will need some work once they thaw out! I've needed some TLC after this season as well! Its been 3 1/2 weeks into my 6-week hiatus and I am just starting to feel like myself again! I rested well a few days after the race, but then I quickly got into my routine of "light training". What a rookie mistake! I tell my athletes to take serious off time both for their bodies and their heads, and what do I do? At one point...

Dee Sullivan Triathlete: Running

http://deesullitriathlete.blogspot.com/2009/11/running.html

Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Ironically, RockStar Tri wrote a blog about "the long run yesterday. Check out, "When is a long run long? On RockStar Tri's Blog: http:/ rockstartri.blogspot.com/2009/11/when-is-long-run-long.html. After graduating College in 1998 I decided to enter the lottery for the NYC Marathon. Upon my return from spending a summer backpacking in the Arctic of Alaska, I found out I had gotten into the the marathon! On the treadmill in my gym! Dee Sullivan Triathlete: Lucky #13?

http://deesullitriathlete.blogspot.com/2009/12/lucky-13.html

Wednesday, December 2, 2009. Although many people see #13 as the most. Number, I have always included it in my list of favorite numbers (yes I have more than one favorite/lucky number.) Though I have always considered 13 to be a favorite number of mine, I am beginning to sway to the popular thinking that it's quite unlucky! George and I arrived Wednesday and let me say that the journey was a long one! Wake up to the most beautiful scene! It was worth the travel! But it was so hard not to! I was SO ready ...

Dee Sullivan Triathlete: April 2009

http://deesullitriathlete.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, April 8, 2009. Happen to enter my mind, they would be replaced with more positive thoughts and with the feeling that I. Indeed enjoy racing and. Indeed have faith in myself and my abilities. Mission accomplished. Now, if you look at my result, you might wonder. I left Oceanside with such a “bright outlook” on my future of racing. I did not place well. My time was not impressive….why then, am I so pleased? I’ll try to explain as best I can. Oh well…never say never! She races the Women’s &...

Monday, March 23, 2009. I am REALLY excited to report that I will be racing on the Zoot Ultra Team. For the 3rd season in a row! I joined the Zoot Team the first year that it was established in 2007. It just so happened that 2007 was also my first year racing Pro and I was SO excited to be accepted onto such a fantastic team and represent the best multisport company out there! This year I am. As excited to be racing for Zoot! Also, Zipp wheels (speak for themselves, don't they? Is another sponsor for 200...

Saturday, January 30, 2010. Hmmm Been a while! Im happy to report that I have been back into my training routine and feeling quite good! For the past 3 weeks I have been doing my trainer workouts religiously (thank you George for helping me with a program to follow) and have found that not only am I getting stronger on the trainer (something that I was skeptical of) but I am starting to really love the challenge of it (was also a skeptic of this)! Other than that I have been enjoying training with others!

http://deesullitriathlete.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Wednesday, September 2, 2009. I am writing this to thank everyone who has sent me positive e-mails and comments on my blog along the way. I was hesitant to write a blog at first. Who is going to care what I'm doing? But I must say that it has been a positive experience overall it it is so great to have support from friends and fellow triathletes. That being said, I have had been harassed on my blog since last winter. This person writes anonymous blog comments telling me the most. S to me for months now!
