Thursday, August 25, 2011. Mike and I took 2 hour stints at the lathe which gave each of us a chance to do some exploration. Of this most beautiful of the cities we have visited in Norway. The architecture is wonderful and the paint schemes of any number of the houses is both interesting and individualized without being garish. I confined my exploration to a few blocks around the waterfront and was please with what I found. It was a lovely bright and sunny day and I was able to get a few good pictures.

Thursday, August 25, 2011. Vaske maskin and torke trommel. I have made my last run to the washing machines and dryers hopefully and I think you will be able to figure out that vaske maskin is Norwegian for washing machine and torke trommel are the words for dryer. As luck would have it the washers and dryers are on the deck with my cabin although it is quite a ways back in the ship. The laundry room contains 4 washers with tubs the size of a basketball and 4 dryers with drums roughly twice as large.

Friday, September 2, 2011. Friday morning en route to Bergen after breakfast all of the demonstrators were assembled onto the foredeck for a group picture. This was a bit like herding cats but eventually everyone was in their place. Nick Agar brought a great deal of levity to the photo session as he mounted one of the large line bollards and assumed a pose on one leg with an arm outstretched somewhat reminiscent of winged victory. Of course he was wearing his bright red jumpsuit so it was quite the sight.
