http://rachelprogeny.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Stories that make us who we are. 8220;Arise, cry out in the night,. As the watches of the night begin;. Pour out your heart like water. In the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him. For the lives of your children.”. This week has been beautiful. But it’s only Wednesday, and the week already has been beautiful. I’ve accomplished things that some might call great. Valedictorian is buried in there somewhere. Summa cum laude is stamped on my college degree...So, as I wa...

Thursday, November 18, 2010. 8220;For I was hungry, while you had all you needed. I was thirsty, but you drank bottled water. I was a stranger, and you wanted me deported. I needed clothes, but you needed more clothes. I was sick, and you pointed out the behaviors that led to my sickness. I was in prison, and you said I was getting what I deserve.”. Paraphrase of Matthew 25 by Richard Stearns, president of World Vision. 8220;To know what is right and not to do it is the worst cowardice.”. Maybe we don...
rachel's blog: Let's get a little messy...
http://rachelprogeny.blogspot.com/2009/11/lets-get-little-messy.html
Monday, November 2, 2009. Let's get a little messy. Away with your noisy hymns of praise. I will not listen to the music of your harps (strings). Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice. An endless river of righteous living. Amos 5:23-24 (parenthesis added). The first time I saw her, I didn’t have any children of my own. I knew even before I saw that her birthday was the day before Ben’s and my anniversary. Those eyes…they just wouldn’t let me go. Moses Mwesige came along in 2005, after we’...
rachel's blog: The beauty of messy love...
http://rachelprogeny.blogspot.com/2009/09/beauty-of-love.html
Tuesday, September 29, 2009. The beauty of messy love. The love that bubbles in my heart, rises to my throat and lodges there when I look at my two sons, at their gem-of-a-man father, at their hands reaching for my face, my arm, my hair. These emotions, so completely different from each other, live under the same roof. Sometimes it’s just…overwhelming. Maybe you should know something about me. Maybe you already know it. I’m a perfectionist. Always have been…trying hard not to be. Because those boys (okay...

Mission at Alamo Heights: Holy Moments
http://missionatalamoheights.blogspot.com/2010/08/holy-moments.html
Mission at Alamo Heights. Thursday, August 5, 2010. G-d asked where I was going. I said, "I guess to the next place that I could turn around and get back to them." So that's what I did. I pulled up behind the SUV and turned on my own hazards. I opened the door and climbed out and walked around my car. Can I help you with anything or give you a lift to a gas station? No, my sister's on her way. It overheated and we think a hose broke". I thought to myself. this really is part of it! 160; Abraham Josh...

Mission at Alamo Heights: Fishing Under the Bridge
http://missionatalamoheights.blogspot.com/2010/08/fishing-under-bridge.html
Mission at Alamo Heights. Tuesday, August 31, 2010. Fishing Under the Bridge. I recently listened to a radio program in which the hosts asked several visitors from third world countries what the most surprising and absurd thing was about America. The majority of the respondents replied that homeless shelters and assisted living centers for the elderly were among the most mind-boggling things that they had seen. People from third world countries could not understand the need for a soup kitchen. To find ou...

Mission at Alamo Heights: First Fruits in the Holy Land
http://missionatalamoheights.blogspot.com/2010/07/first-fruits-in-holy-land.html
Mission at Alamo Heights. Wednesday, July 14, 2010. First Fruits in the Holy Land. It has been an exhausting travel time thus far. We should have been landing in Tel Aviv about three hours ago, but the delay in Charlotte prevented that. The delay was caused by bad weather in North Carolina and exacerbated by a few grumpy passengers. One was escorted off of the plane in Charlotte before we even took off and another was arrested upon arrival in New York. The man was articulate and passionate. Through the d...

It's Miller Time
Keeping family and friends updated. Tuesday, June 16, 2009. We survived our first trip to Las Vegas! We went to watch our niece Alyssa graduate from high school. Quite an accomplishment and we are very proud. The girls did great. We saw the flamingos and fish at our hotel and we also saw the gardens in the Bellagio which Jordyn really liked. We also got to see family which was fun. Here are the girls peering out our window our first morning. Posted by Aaron and Lauren at Tuesday, June 16, 2009. We also g...

Prayers go up, blessings come down. Friday, April 25, 2014. A New Diet. . . Not Just a Fad. One of my favorite devotionals is Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. If you've never read it grab a copy and start! The media relentlessly proclaim bad news: for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A steady diet of their fare will sicken you. Instead of focusing on fickle, ever changing news broadcasts, tune into the living Word- the one who is always the same. The one where she will be cancer free? 46:4: I will be the same ...
Taking You Home
This love is like nothing I have ever known." -Don Henley. Friday, December 1, 2017. Logan - 6 months. Before bed and when she leaves in the morning for school. And you are fascinated with watching her. I know it won't always be smooth sailing because it never is with siblings, but I hope you two always have a special bond. You already manage to move yourself around a room pretty well! You had your first real illness a couple of weeks ago - a nasty cough and ear infection. You stayed pretty happy thr...
