In a couple of hours we were at the Vietnamese border, and after a few questions about our marital status, nationality and our favourite spanish football teams (the typical question to ask to a Spaniard), they briefly checked our bags and we were off. Luang namtha woke up with the morning mist and the moisture from the night rain, and we woke up with the sound of roosters even before the day was day. It’s been raining for 5 days straight, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to change. From time to time they would laugh, probably at the faces I was pulling, and would try to make small talk like: are you here on holidays? And then you try to reply as politely as possible.
