Vikings Thoughts - A Minnesota Vikings Blog: For anyone that stumbles across this blog...
http://vikingsthoughts.blogspot.com/2009/04/for-anyone-that-stumbles-across-this.html
Random Thoughts about the Minnesota Vikings. Tuesday, April 7, 2009. For anyone that stumbles across this blog. I haven't posted here for a long time because I'm writing for a company called Content Quake. When I posted here last, I posted that I got a blog writing job with DieHard101. Well, the day after I took that job, I got a second offer from Content Quake. For a little over a month I was writing for both companies, but unfortunately DieHard101 didn't last too long. Hopefully I'll see you there.

Defensive Indifference: Theory #287 why the Vikings can't run the ball
http://jasonwinter.blogspot.com/2009/12/theory-287-why-vikings-cant-run-ball.html
A Minnesota-born sports fan's idea of witty commentary and statistical analysis. Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Theory #287 why the Vikings can't run the ball. Our offensive linemen are too. You'll hear it at least once per broadcast, the announcers' open astonishment at the mammoth sizes of Minnesota's tackles. Bryant McKinnie. Is 6'8", 335 lbs. Phil Loadholt. Is 6'8", 343 lbs. Toss in Steve Hutchinson. 6'5", 313), John Sullivan. 6'4", 301), and Anthony Herrera. But they're not. And it took this video.

Defensive Indifference: How many idiots does it take to make a bad draft pick?
http://jasonwinter.blogspot.com/2010/07/how-many-idiots-does-it-take-to-make.html
A Minnesota-born sports fan's idea of witty commentary and statistical analysis. Saturday, July 17, 2010. How many idiots does it take to make a bad draft pick? On the other hand, it takes a lot of idiots to make a good draft pick. And at the heart of this discussion are Jimmy Clausen. And why I'm OK with the Vikings not drafting either one of them, even with their pressing long-term needs at quarterback. Now, let me explain. Now consider someone like Troy Williamson. He was a "good" draft pick. Most tea...

Defensive Indifference: You can't un-learn things
http://jasonwinter.blogspot.com/2009/06/you-cant-un-learn-things.html
A Minnesota-born sports fan's idea of witty commentary and statistical analysis. Tuesday, June 30, 2009. You can't un-learn things. Now that I've done a fair job. Of establishing that there's no link. Yesterday, Daily Norseman. I think it's fair to say Peterson would see a bump in his yards per carry average with Favre as the team's starter. While the free pdf download of FootballGuys. Fantasy football magazine (a great deal, and only 21 MB! When discussing Matt Forte. And the effect Jay Cutler. Page 113...

Defensive Indifference: Why the Broncos are 6-0
http://jasonwinter.blogspot.com/2009/10/why-broncos-are-6-0.html
A Minnesota-born sports fan's idea of witty commentary and statistical analysis. Friday, October 23, 2009. Why the Broncos are 6-0. The simple answer is, of course, "Their amazing defense and a really lucky play against Cincinnati." But consider the following two quarterbacks, each with the same number of pass attempts:. 4,526 passing yards, 25 TDs, 18 Interceptions, 86.0 passer rating, 6.8 adjusted yards per attempt. Which one is better? Quarterback A, but not by a large amount. I bet you're taking that.

Defensive Indifference: Can Brett help Adrian?
http://jasonwinter.blogspot.com/2009/06/can-brett-help-adrian.html
A Minnesota-born sports fan's idea of witty commentary and statistical analysis. Thursday, June 18, 2009. Can Brett help Adrian? One of the persistent reasons I've heard for bringing Brett Favre. Or any quality quarterback - to the Vikings is that the threat of an improved passing game will open up more holes for Adrian Peterson. Improvement to the team will push him much over a 1,600-yard season on a consistent basis? Help the running game (or vice versa). Brian Burke over at Advanced NFL Stats has ...

Defensive Indifference: Revisiting receivers
http://jasonwinter.blogspot.com/2009/07/revisiting-receivers.html
A Minnesota-born sports fan's idea of witty commentary and statistical analysis. Tuesday, July 14, 2009. I knew something seemed a little amiss with yesterday's post, and it bugged me all afternoon. (I still. Need a life.) If I was trying to "prove" that the quality of a #2 receiver had no effect on a #1's yardage total, then I should start with the #2s and try to see what seasons their complementary #1s have. Still small enough to be insignificant. I read somewhere today that, with Terrell Owens. The Ar...

Defensive Indifference: October 2010
http://jasonwinter.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
A Minnesota-born sports fan's idea of witty commentary and statistical analysis. Sunday, October 10, 2010. The Price of Randy Moss. Here's a quick guess at what a third-round pick - which was apparently the going rate for one of the best WRs in history - is worth. Here are all third-round draft picks from 1991 to 2000. If the Vikings actually gave up a player of that caliber for a few years late in Randy Moss. That means that about 2 out of every 3 3rd-round picks are essentially valueless - players who ...
