Friday, April 23, 2010. Spark Student Interests: Integrate Science and Writing. For the past month we have studied insects and ocean animals. The kids really enjoyed the ocean animals unit, so I decided to have the students do simple research projects on their favorite ocean creatures. We had lessons on the difference between facts and opinions, learned about ways you can present information, and how to complete basic research. Choose 1 ocean animal to study. Use at least one source for your information.

These books are great for fluency practice and homework resources. You can help our class! You can sponsor our classroom at I Love Schools. We can always use donations of snacks like goldfish crackers, animal crackers, etc. Listen to a student read books. Use flash cards with a child. Help me monitor during centers.

BORDER CROSSING Interdisciplinary week! This week went very quick. For this project we worked in groups. The task was to reflect and connect with each other and do some ‘informal’ border crossing. Also to brainstorm and find connections or differences of interpretation and response to theme of identity. The objective of this project was to create a team outcome that took our disciplinary understanding of identity to a new interdisciplinary level. And I am done for this week!
