Critter of the month. Huzzah & Courtois Creek. North Fork & Bryant Creek. Pomme de Terre River. Lake of the Ozarks. Pomme de Terre Lake. This creek is suitable mainly for spring floats but has one of the best general gradients in the Ozarks. However, the gradient is steady and there are really no unusual features in terms of falls or spectacular runs. It is just a good, steady, fast run through relatively undisturbed countryside, in spite of its closeness to civilization. Click here for current conditions.

Missouri’s North Fork of the White River. The river is almost always floatable from Dora down to Norfork Reservoir. Although the gradient of the lower sections is not spectacular, the volume is good and this produces some fairly sporty rifts. Missouri’s Bryant Creek. Click here for current conditions.

Cool places to run, cycle and paddle. A good running week. I A-M S-T-I-L-L R-U-N-N-I-N-G →. A great day for a bike ride. August 18, 2013. With temperatures in the upper 70s and unseasonably low humidity, Tom and I ditched Saturday’s running plans for the chance to enjoy a long bike ride on Eastern Jackson County’s Little Blue Trail. In the end, it didn’t disappoint — though there were a few bumps along the way. I was excited about the ride, too. Little did I know…. And wasn’t eager to talk to Dad. All in...
