Vague Notions and Missing Thoughts | Mary's Blog

Vague Notions and Missing Thoughts. April 21, 2016. April 25, 2016. When you hear “Information Society”, what do you think of? Without any background, your mind might go to a club or an organization. You might think of something similar to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society. That’s where my mind goes at least: to a group of people working with a common purpose. I knew that wasn’t exactly an information society, but that’s what it sounds like. The same. Tremblay. To document everything so t...

Tacit and Explicit once more: Types of Knowledge and Knowing. April 28, 2016. I am blogging about Hara last because, to be honest, I really struggled with this book. There is just so much in it, and there’s so little I know about public defenders. But there was one section I came across that I. Hana also doesn’t dismiss the ideas of tacit and explicit; instead, these three types of knowledge. Of course, with so many classmates talking about it, I had to read Szulanski. 8221; We don’t normally think...

Back to the Basics: Knowledge, Sharing, and Hiding. April 25, 2016. This week I decided to start a little more general with my readings, trying to bring myself back to what we’re all talking about: knowledge management. With that in mind, I picked up Tsouskas. To read about organizational knowledge. And I am glad I did. Sometimes I get so bogged down in trying to understand all theories and make them fit with each other I forget they may conflict or use words differently. Tsouskas. Disagree, to an extent...

Trust in the Workspace | Mary's Blog

https://mlieskeblog.wordpress.com/2016/04/09/trust-in-the-workspace

Trust in the Workspace. April 9, 2016. If you’ve ever been part of a “fire drill” (actual fire or otherwise), then you know how important it is to trust the instructions given to you by firemen. You don’t think or question, you just do what the fireman tells you. This is the kind of trust Ibrahim. Is talking about when he discusses trust during major incidents in the oil industry. Which I’ve mentioned earlier. Ibrahim. But what about those formal structures? Getting away from the fire drills, knowledge s...

Knowledge Transfer | akeller24blog

https://akeller24blog.wordpress.com/2016/04/12/knowledge-transfer

April 12, 2016. I started talking about knowledge transfer in my last post and this post also discusses it further. Kang and Kang (2010). Talk a little about tacit and explicit knowledge (it always comes back! And how it affects knowledge transfer. My typical reaction has been (because of the articles I have read) that tacit knowledge is harder to transfer than explicit knowledge. What I found interesting in Kang and Kang (2010). Refers to as stickiness. Szulanski (1996). Kang, J., Rhee, M., and ...Szula...

April 28, 2016. Knowledge and Learning (and a little more). This is my last blog post that is on articles I have read! I can’t believe the semester is almost over! Anyway, let’s get this started. Knowledge is not static. As Stock (2011). Says, Knowledge changes old wisdom loses its meaning and new discoveries are made of developed further ( Stock, 2011, p. 965. One way to share information is through stories. Tremblay (1995). And this is something that has come up time and time again. According to St...

Knowledge Theory | rhugenwrites

April 21, 2016. April 21, 2016. Tsoukas (2001) also discusses this idea when talking about language and how Castillian grammar just “was” rather than trying to have it be expressed so that people can better understand it. It seems to be an excellent example of enculturation, since people don’t often even think about institutional norms once they have adjusted to the environment. However, Tsoukas (2001) seems to favor in person communication. Example of the fireman and RHXMAXSONLIS’s. One of the rather gl...

Knowledge Transfer- The Firm? | rhugenwrites

Knowledge Transfer- The Firm? April 25, 2016. April 23, 2016. Hints at when she discusses email. Will there be one? Can anyone do it? I sometimes wonder which researcher will crack the code, making tacit information able to be coded, but that idea also scares me. What happens when people can explain the greater mysteries of life? Will stories still have power? It’s interesting to ponder about in terms of KM, because it seems like each piece tries to tell a new story using pieces of older ones. I agree wi...

April 25, 2016. In a Twitter discussion, we discussed how organizations and the people within those organizations are often resistant to change. https://akeller24blog.wordpress.com/2016/04/22/organizations-and-individuals

April 22, 2016. Which are more important to knowledge management and knowledge transfer? My first reaction was organizations because they seem to have more influence than individuals. However, organizations are comprised of individuals. Argote and Ingram (2000). Suggests that “organizational knowledge is always organizational rather than individual.” This seems to jive with what I read in Spender’s article. According to Spender (1996),. In organizations, social-collaboration seems to be on the rise. ...

Let life be as sweet as a cupcake! Woensdag 9 maart 2011.
