The Ébéniste: January 2013
http://ebonist.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
The Ébéniste : Woodworking on less than one hour a day. Monday, January 28, 2013. The pull that may never be. I spent about an hour fashioning this pull from a chip of swiss pear. I'm afraid that it will not work: it is too small and hard to grasp. Before I discard the piece into my bin of forgotten parts, and I thought that I'd at least take a picture. Do you often discard neat components that you like but just won't work out well? Saturday, January 12, 2013. Saturday, January 5, 2013. Finishing was my ...

The Ébéniste: New Project - Dining room shelves
http://ebonist.blogspot.com/2012/01/new-project-dining-room-shelves.html
The Ébéniste : Woodworking on less than one hour a day. Friday, January 6, 2012. New Project - Dining room shelves. Sketchup of one unit. That is it, I had to put the TV stand away for a few weeks. It is technically very demanding and I find it hard to do it as well as I'd like. So, thanks to my mother in law, I got into a brand new project which should be fast and fun. The Ébéniste: May 2011
http://ebonist.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
The Ébéniste : Woodworking on less than one hour a day. Saturday, May 28, 2011. I created a glue-up monster. And the villagers are heading down to the manor with torches and pitchforks. I designed it so almost all of the grain is in the same axis and thus will move together. This is a lesson learned from project #1. I may be overthinking this too much, but I can't emotionally afford to screw up at this stage after countless hours of hand cutting joinery. On a side note, I now have precise measurements fo...

The Ébéniste: Long overdue post
http://ebonist.blogspot.com/2012/05/long-overdue-post.html
The Ébéniste : Woodworking on less than one hour a day. Saturday, May 5, 2012. Long overdue but not particularly insightful. Turbine gun by Earlex. Winter has gone by, the two shelf units has gone from sketchup to real things. I'm now at the finishing stage, minus the back of the two top cabinet. I primed the lower cabinets using a brand new spray gun that my mother-in-law and I have purchased as a joint venture. Spraying Zinsser primer with the Earlex 5500. What is on the TODO list (short term). I want ...

It's A Stock Item: September 2014
http://itsastockitem.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
It's A Stock Item. Monday, 8 September 2014. Can we make a pig ark from stock items? With two side struts added, the base was carried up to its first home in the lower field. The end pieces each came out of half a sheet of 18mm ply, with a bolt-secured door. The roof struts which, like the corrugated steel, were leftovers from our old postbarn, were friction fitted to the ends. So there we were. I had to buy the plywood and the bolts, but all the other bits came from stock. Posted by Ian Thorpe.

It's A Stock Item: March 2016

It's A Stock Item. Saturday, 26 March 2016. Installing a window, and fixing a loo. Again I took a Land Rover full of tools, in particular saws of all varieties, electric and hand - but the most used star of this show was my Bosch multitool with its small, oscillating blade. This offers such accurate and reliable cutting that most of the window work and the cutting out of a door opening from one stall to the next were achieved without even changing the blade.
