It's official. My son starts first grade and public school next year. This week was bitter-sweet for all of us. Of course, I'm proud that Lewie is growing up and that he had such a wonderful kindergarten experience at Surreybrook. Still, I'm sad that he's getting "older" right before my eyes, and that when he enters a classroom of 17 children next year instead of just 6, he will be a little less sheltered and a little more savvy to the ways of the world. So proud of my little boy! I'll take any advice!

The End of Summer? Lewie took swim lessons at a wedding venue called the Colonial Tavern. They own an outside swimming pool, and just through sheer luck, I learned that they offer very affordable, private, swim lessons for kids. The pool is not heated, so they state that the swim season lasts for six weeks during the summer, but we were lucky and able to squeeze in eight lessons. Lewie w/ his teacher, Miss Alexis. (She's a nursing major in her junior year of college.). These clouds don't even look real!

School Days in a Nature Based Classroom. Lewie's first day of kindergarten was emotional for me. I was worried about all the usual stuff: Will he like his new school? Will he make new friends? Currently - September Edition. Ever since school has started, I find that the days and weekends are whizzing by fast. The first two weeks of September were spent getting adjusted to new schedules, cooler temperatures, and shorter days. We've been fighting off germs (and winning so far), and buying new school clothes and shoes to last us through the fall and winter. At the moment, it feels like work is winning, but I'm determined to take days off ahead of time to make sure that my family remains a priority.

On Easter this year, I was both sad and thankful at the same time. I was heartbroken because my aunt had to have surgery, which prevented her from coming to our normal Easter brunch, and my mom was in a car accident on Holy Thursday!
