Montessori Elementary at Home: April 2014
http://montessorielementaryathome.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Montessori Elementary at Home. Saturday, April 12, 2014. This is a snapshot of a day in our Montessori home:. One day last week we cleared the table and I said, "I need you to do a work plan.". Sean filled out a sheet that I have pre-made with the subjects and blank lines for him to fill in what he is going to do in that subject. For instance: Science- and he would fill in something like Elements Work. I believe he practiced piano that day, and later on I took him to his first Parkour class. As a Montess...

Montessori Elementary at Home. Wednesday, February 25, 2015. Update on Geometry Sticks. We have started the Keys of the Universe Geometry album, and so far, so good. A lot of it was just review in the beginning, but it led to some great work. The fraction circles were a way for him to explore equivalency, and he used two 1/2 circles. Once he was finished working with the fractions, we moved on to Geometry Sticks. At first he was resistant, and claimed we had done that work before. We had never do...I sta...

Montessori Elementary at Home: Road Trip Provides Best Geography, Cultural lessons

Montessori Elementary at Home. Thursday, July 16, 2015. Road Trip Provides Best Geography, Cultural lessons. The more I relax and observe, instead of worrying and leading, the more I embrace unschooling. Here's just one example of why:. My oldest son joined the Air Force, and his graduation from Basic Military Training in San Antonio, Texas was at the end of June. Sean was apprehensive. He didn't like the idea of being gone so long. And here's the unschooling part. Although this was completely different ...

Montessori Elementary at Home: May 2014

Montessori Elementary at Home. Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Things I love about Homeschool: So Much to Learn. Now that I'm a homeschooling mom I get to study things I didn't learn while I was in school. Such as all of these ancient civilizations, and the elements and periodic table in detail, not just enough to get me through pre-med biology class. In our study of Ancient China, I checked out two books on the Terra Cotta Warriors from the library, and we are both enjoying the books. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Montessori Elementary at Home. Thursday, January 15, 2015. Mittens for Koalas, a Change of Plan. Once we signed up on the IFAW website as mitten makers for the Koalas who have been injured in the bushfires, I received notice that the call for mittens was so successful that they have way more than enough. And postage to Australia from the U. S. is so expensive, they are encouraging anyone outside of Australia to donate money instead. Where to put all of that Montessori stuff. We don't have any extra rooms...

Captured Moments | contemplating montessori

November 1, 2013. We have a few labels put out in our garden to help children identify some of the plants growing in the outer environment. Little wooden strips painted and mounted on wooden stakes, thrust into the ground. But like most things these labels have come to have many uses. In the past few months, we have had 3 children from the primary environment discover reading through them! A stroll in the garden, has witnessed them sound out each letter on the label and discover that they can read! You c...

How Does Our Garden Grow? – Part Three | contemplating montessori

How Does Our Garden Grow? 8211; Part Three. August 13, 2013. Here is the long overdue update on our gardening endeavours at school. It has now been a couple of months from when we planted our veggies and some flowers and it’s been a mixed bag of results. Our raised boxes are doing well. Even though they had to be moved a few weeks ago, the plants have re-cooperated and are lush and green. The fact that it was from our garden made the salad all the more delicious. Dill to take home …. Fortunately, the fai...
