We have been tracking our expenses during the four years since we sailed away from Canada in hopes of informing and enabling others. Is a 45 foot sail boat with a crew of two. She was built in 1980 and so is 32 year old. She was in good repair when we purchased her for $145,000 five years ago. 180 days in New Zealand. We are care...

Where We’ve Been. Where We’d Like To Go. May 8, 2012. Spent two weeks in Napier. The city of Napier has considerable tourist infrastructure. The town center is quite pleasant to walk around. We had a great time at the National Aquarium. Particularly viewing Kiwi’s, Sea Horses, and their large pelagic tank with its diversity of sharks. We tied up at the visitor’s dock of the Napier Sailing Club. We were very well treated in Napier and would stop there again. Leave a reply →. May 12, 2012 at 10:14 am.

Where We’ve Been. Where We’d Like To Go. January 19, 2013. Spent the first night of our Christmas holiday. We had intended to travel all of the way from Wellington to Guard’s Bay, but despite a wonderful and long day flying our cruising chute. We weren’t traveling fast enough to make the distance before dark. We had a lot of bottom growth slowing us down, but honestly there just wasn’t much wind and we received little current assistance traveling through Cook Straight with the tide. Leave a reply →.

Where We’ve Been. Where We’d Like To Go. August 16, 2013. Photo from Steves Google. I first met Steve on the radio. His was the voice attached to. Always first to answer, always keen to help, always up for a chat. When we finally met in person, and I could put a human name to him, I think we talked about batteries. Then he invited us to go snorkelling with stingrays. It seems fitting that one of the highlights of our cruising adventure happened on our first of many outings with Steve. Fair winds, Steve.

Women Sailors: December 2010
http://womensailors.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Should have called my other blogsite Sail Like a Woman not www.saillikeagirl.blogspot.com - The word 'WOMAN' would have improved my rankings on the google list. BUT. So for the next few years I'm intending to do as much sailing as possible - to 'infect' as many other women as I can with the sailing bug, and then when I'm too old maybe I'll just play with words. As you will see I've checked to see if the followers gadget works and it does, so please 'follow' me - it all helps. Friday, December 31, 2010.
