Why do we Teach History? Mr Moose, why do we have to know this? It's a question I get every year and a question that I have a difficult time answering. I've taught all types of social studies classes and kids always seem the most frustrated in History class- why do we need to learn about dead people who did things a long time ago? It's not on the ACT, the test by which kids are not measured - though we do have a state social studies assessment. It's a hell of a question really. And, some possible answers.
