Observations from the team at Page One. Quick review of our new Gini Video rig…. December 9, 2010 by dougmarke. Have had a few plays with the new DSLR video rig delivered from Korea, courtesy of Ebay Seller Gini.1989…. I was a bit nervous, as he is not one of the big names, and he is a lot cheaper…. But I gave it a punt…. And I have to say that this is one fabulous bit of gear, hewn out of solid steel as far as I can see, very very well engineered. Cant say enough good things really, its a work of art.

Observations from the team at Page One. File Size and DPI……. The single biggest area of confusion that we find from customers is in relation to DPI or resolution of a picture. Think of a digital file as a bucket of sand. Each sand grain is one byte of information (or Dot). If you have a sandbox that is say, 8 10 inches, then the bucket of sand will cover that box to a depth of 300 grains (or DPI) if the sandbox is say, 16 20, then the same bucket may only cover the box to a depth of 72 grains (or DPI).

Observations from the team at Page One. Archive for September, 2008. Has Canon missed with the 5d mk2? On September 17, 2008 Leave a Comment. Well after all the excitment of the chase, we have finally this morning seen the announcment of the new 5d replacement, the unsurprisingly named 5d mk2. Despite all the rumours, the new camera appears to be more evolution than revolution, with 3 primary flaws. These problems are compounded by Canon’s failure to replace the 21mm lens with something useable....

Observations from the team at Page One. Archive for October, 2008. Video and Photography, two different things. On October 3, 2008 Leave a Comment. I was gobsmacked to read on Canon’s web-site that the main drivers for the inclusion of video on the 5d mk2, were Getty and Reuters. According to the site, both of these major agencies want to be able to offer more video content, and are keen to get it from their existing photographers. When will these people learn? I find it almost a act of betrayal that Can...

It was a pleasure last week to meet the former Notts and England cricketer Chris Broad.
