Monday, 13 February 2012. New Toys - 4 Weeks To Go. On first time assembly The Defeater looked very small, but once you get it in the right shape it is the exact size of a standard double bed. Billie the Dog gives the Skeeter Defeater 5 stars on TripAdvisor for comfort and functionality. Even though she was pretty glad to be out of there after the test. The new Canon Powershot S100. Still in familiarisation mode, and will be for some time. Here are some shots from the last few days:. Out With The Old.

48 Days in Asia: Last Stop Singapore - April 23rd
http://noobs-in-asia.blogspot.com/2012/04/last-stop-singapore-april-23rd.html
Tuesday, 24 April 2012. Last Stop Singapore - April 23rd. Almost a full days travel to get from Hong Kong to Singapore. Checked into the hotel, Ibis Singapore on Bencoolen, and went for a look around. The hotel is across the road from Sim Lim Square. Around the corner from Bugis Street. And five minutes walk from Little India. There are literally hundreds of cafes and restaurants within five minutes walk as well as two MRT stations, markets and malls. Lanes of shops and eateries everywhere. Luang Prabang...

48 Days in Asia: Singapore Exploration Day
http://noobs-in-asia.blogspot.com/2012/04/singapore-exploration-day.html
Wednesday, 25 April 2012. No real plan for today, just grab some breakfast and jump on the MRT to somewhere. To start with, that somewhere turned out to be Orchard Road. All the brand name stores again. Sue said that Sophie would have heart palpitations if she ever happened to be on Orchard Road. Sue deciding where to go to next. Bvlgari or Canali. Or they are rare. On the way home from dinner we saw the sleeping rickshaws. 26 April 2012 at 12:49 pm. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Ha Noi City Tour.

48 Days in Asia: January 2012
http://noobs-in-asia.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, 12 January 2012. Jabs, Pills, Potions, the Tour d'Afrique and Fan Death. Yesterday was a big day in the prep for our trip, the first round of vaccinations. Not a big deal for me, I don't have Sue's needle phobia. And most vaccs from my previous Nepal trips are still current. A couple of oral vaccinations for me but Sue needs the lot. So expensive. Big ups to Jon. Who is in Cairo for the start of the Tour d'Afrique. On Saturday. What an adventure! And thanks to Kitty. For bringing Fan Death.

Ultradistance Cycling and Adventure. Sesriem Rest Day – More Dirt and The Racing Isn’t Over. Sunset on the Sossusvlei dunes. Billed as the highest dune in the world. With the dirt comes gaps and more time riding alone. Its a day of weaving about searching for the least corrugated section of road to gain some speed and save your body from vibration. This race is typically won by 24 hours by the time it reaches Capetown. It appears the gap will be hours this year, perhaps minutes. Off the bike was differen...

48 Days in Asia: Singapore Hop-On Hop-Off Bus
http://noobs-in-asia.blogspot.com/2012/04/singapore-hop-on-hop-off-bus.html
Thursday, 26 April 2012. Singapore Hop-On Hop-Off Bus. Real tourists again. We bought a 24 hour hop-on hop-off bus ticket which turned out to be pretty good value and a good way to see the city. During our 'rounds' we saw few tourists about and it was the same on the bus. It was always less than 50% full. What do you do when one of the bus stops is at the famous Raffles Hotel? Have a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar. On our travels we passed the dodgyest building in Singapore. 27 April 2012 at 9:50 am.

48 Days in Asia: December 2011
http://noobs-in-asia.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, 31 December 2011. Do we really need to take all this stuff? Note the absence of any Apple products. Off Topic - The Wedding. Kate and Luke's wedding is a month or so past now, and a bit of a blur. It all went without a hitch. The ceremony and reception at Sirromet Wines at Mount Cotton couldn't be faulted and the food was superb. Even the weather gods smiled that day. Also a huge thumbs up to SilverEdge Photography. Can't wait to see the full set. You can have a sneak peek here. It's a relief t...

48 Days in Asia: March 2012
http://noobs-in-asia.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, 31 March 2012. Last Days in Chiang Mai. Our stay in Chiang Mai has been a few days longer than was originally planned and even though we've mostly been bumming around the hotel and the Old City with an occasional excursion, its been a few days well spent. We're expert at navigating through the back lanes with the locals now. The temperature has been 37C for the last three days, and even that doesn't seem so bad now. But we did spend some Baht dollars doing:. The Mae Ping River Dinner Cruise.
