Contemporary Theory and Issues in Public relation: Identity and Country Branding
http://classblogcarmentorres.blogspot.com/2009/03/identity-and-country-branding.html
Saturday, March 7, 2009. Identity and Country Branding. 8220;Culture is always a form of pretence. It pretends to be itself, at times may even parody itself. Your culture is also the full gamunt of association you allow yourself to reside within – not necessarily what you say but how you say it – not necessarily what you wear but how you wear it” (Mark Rowden. Identity. P.133). This quote illustrates what I mentioned in the above paragraph, and adds to the idea of how you transmit your identity. Contempo...

As we learned in class ethics is all about dilemma, should we do this, or that? These dilemmas emerge when we have to make any decision that affects our own values or principal in life. Contemporary Theory and Issues in Public relation: March 2009

Sunday, March 29, 2009. Is a PR Degree Necessary? The last class of the semester posed the question of the importance of having PR degree to work in the industry or if it is all about connections and personal qualities. So to conclude this statement, I must say that it doesn’t matter how much you study or how good your grades are, because if you don’t get to know the right people, you will probably find it very difficult to have a good job. Contemporary Theory and Issues in Public relation: Crisis Management
http://classblogcarmentorres.blogspot.com/2009/03/crisis-management.html
Thursday, March 12, 2009. Crisis management is a very big issue for every public relations practitioner, because when there is crises management there is a need of good PR work. What we did in class was recreate a hypothetic crisis management situation, and tried to act as if it was real. We, as a whole, where divided into groups and the outcome of how all the different parts on a crisis situation where acting and how everything worked out was really interesting. As the book that I’m reading curren...

Contemporary Theory and Issues in Public relation: January 2009
http://classblogcarmentorres.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 26, 2009. The Powe of PR during War. The first class of this semester was about PR during war. I found it a very interesting topic because I learned how public relations practitioners use media tools to persuade a country of starting a war and how they can convince the public that national interest is under threat. The most important aspect is what the public perceives about the conflict, and how by using PR people can think that it’s good to start a war against any other country. I recen...

Reflections on Contemporary Theories and Issues in PR. March 28, 2009. Put People First March. The historic ‘Put People First March’. Held earlier today in Central London was a fantastic experience for me. It was my first ever march/rally. And the feeling is indescribable. The adrenalin rush. The support for a common cause (in this case, many common causes) with so many other people, the actual march… Wow! From → Campaign. Larr; Education or Experience? The End and a New Beginning… →. Reflections on Contemporary Theories and Issues in PR. The End and a New Beginning…. April 1, 2009. This is my last post for this blog assignment, the end of a very ‘assignmentful’ (please pardon the English here) second semester. As is my usual practice, it is time to take stock not just for this module, but for course as such and my own assessment of what I have learnt. Let me try and put this in the form of the basic ‘H’ and the 4 ‘Ws’. I enjoyed the case studies and practical assignments the most.
