Think Lean, Do More. Semantic Technologies and KM. On lean software spells out the exact mode of software development I prefer. I cannot emphasize enough on the basic principles of lean thinking proposed in this book. Iterating towards excellence: software development as an exercise in discovery. Managing uncertainty: "decide as late as possible" by building change into the system. Compressing the value stream: rapid development, feedback, and improvement. Posted by JC Reddy.

http://leanthoughts.blogspot.com/2005/05/more-on-lean-software-engineering.html
Think Lean, Do More. Semantic Technologies and KM. More on Lean Software Engineering. To me, "lean" software engineering means the following:. It produces a lean product, which does what it is supposed to do very well. It is designed for change to meet any new or changed requirements. It is composed from a set of cleanly designed modules which are well-separated in their design and implementations at all layers. There is no unnecessary complexity. Posted by JC Reddy.

Semantic Technologies and Knowledge Management. Things related to semantic technologies and knowledge management. Lean Thoughts on Software. Semantic Web: The Next Wave? I came across an interesting debate on Semantic Web, sparked by Clay Shirky's article, The Semantic Web, Syllogism, and Worldview. Which generated many responses ( Bb. I like the last one from Paul Ford, not only because he writes well, but also because he has done some very interesting things with Semantic Web ideas. Posted by JC Reddy.

Think Lean, Do More. Semantic Technologies and KM. Right model for the right purpose. A colleague questioned my sanity after reading my rather insensitive comments. On UML. How can I not like "models" and "model-driven architectures"? I spent a good part of my life building models for quite complex things, so I certainly don't dislike 'models' - they saved me more than once. Posted by JC Reddy.

http://leanthoughts.blogspot.com/2005/05/managing-integrity.html
Think Lean, Do More. Semantic Technologies and KM. Recently I was talking to the VP of Engineering of a 5-yr old "start-up" where nothing seems to go well. Even relatively simple projects have failed, and the prdictability is at all time low. After understanding the overall picture, I came to the conclusion that it all had to do with the integrity - integrity of the whole system that he is managing or trying to manage. Posted by JC Reddy.

Things related to Business Process Management (BPM). Comments: Post a Comment. Semantic Technologies and KM. Lean Thoughts on Software. Business Rules and BPM. BPM is obviously concerned with rules because business processes are governed by business rules. Many BPM systems today support business rules management of some sort, either by directly suporting it or by integrating with third party rules systems such as ILog Rules. Semantic Technologies and Knowledge Management. Things related to semantic technologies and knowledge management. Lean Thoughts on Software. Semantic Conference in March in San Francisco. Http:/ www.semantic-conference.com/. It does appear like the momentum is picking up. The brochure says the market for "semantic technologies" will be $63 Billion by year 2010. I haven't any idea what that means, I wish they could tell me where exactly the market is so that I can cash out. Posted by JC Reddy.
