Paul Sutton: March 2010
http://paulgsutton.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Principal Lecturer in Film. Tuesday, 16 March 2010. Moon (Duncan Jones 2009). As always, I'm way behind everyone else with my viewing. Anyway, I've finally had a chance to see Duncan Jones' debut, BAFTA award-winning feature, Moon. And what a debut! A really impressive film with an incredible performance - or should that be performances, plural - from Sam Rockwell. As Sam Bell, Rockwell is. The film. Reviewers of the film have made comparisons with Kubrick's classic 2001: A Space Odyssey. View my complet...

Principal Lecturer in Film. Wednesday, 13 July 2011. Classics in the Walled Garden 2011. As usual there were lots of modern Ferraris, which I have to confess don't do a great deal for for me, but there was a very special looking Daytona Spyder bearing the registration plate '365 FER'. Paul Sutton: A Wolf in Wolf's Clothing...
http://paulgsutton.blogspot.com/2011/10/wolf-in-wolfs-clothing.html
Principal Lecturer in Film. Sunday, 16 October 2011. A Wolf in Wolf's Clothing. With 320bhp available this old M3 is a seriously quick car but what really surprised me was its handling; despite its bulk it is really very impressive. There are a few things that need doing but for the most part these are cosmetic. Also because of its media history - it featured on Discovery's Wheeler Dealers. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Paul Sutton: February 2011
http://paulgsutton.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Principal Lecturer in Film. Friday, 25 February 2011. Earlier this week I was lucky enough to be invited to a private screening of Grant Gee's latest film, Patience (After Sebald). The film is a reflective essay on the influence of the writings of the novelist and scholar W. G. Sebald but more specifically it is an attempt to follow in Sebald's footsteps, both literally and metaphorically. The film takes as its direct inspiration Sebald's The Rings of Saturn. And Gee in Patience. 1991) and The Pillow Book.

S James Elliott wondered after this year's Silverstone Classic whether others had enjoyed the event as much as he had (see ' I loved the Silverstone Classic, but did you? In a moment of real nostalgia I came across the half-scale type 35B Bugatti made by Tula Engineering. London, United Kingdom. Review o...

Principal Lecturer in Film. Thursday, 29 July 2010. Classics on the Common 2010: Report. Well, it started out beautifully - white cloud with some occasional sunshine but as the afternoon wore on into evening the clouds darkened and by about half past seven the rain began to come down in earnest, sending many drivers to their cars to either put hoods up or make a dash for home. So, once again things turned had soggy! Tuesday, 27 July 2010. Marcos 3 Litre V6 (1969). All the heat from that big engine, which...

Has become very popular since it was first posted and with good reason. The stunts are incredible - obviously - but this amateur film has also been pretty well shot (by Dave Sowerby) and effectively edited. The soundtrack uses the single 'The Funeral', courtesy of US indie group Band of Horses. Is not a film that one can 'clai...
