When we lose a loved one, our lives change forever. We want the world to stop but it doesn't. We expect everyone to have heard of our loss but they haven't. Having attended numerous wakes and funerals, we struggled to recognise some family members that we should have sympathised with. We didn’t recognise them because time had changed their physical appearance. As a result, we developed bereavement pins which are worn by grieving family members to distinguish them at wakes and funerals.
