FoodScheming: February 2011
http://foodscheming.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Just a girl and her home-baked thoughts. Thursday, February 17, 2011. Carrot Chocolate Scones with Citrus Glaze. I made these spur-of-the-moment for a houseguest this week; after being assigned to a jury and being crazed with grading papers at the same time, I needed to decompress with a little baking. These scones came to mind when I realized that I had carrots in the fridge, and handling the sticky dough was just the thing for my tired mind. Taken from Carrot Coconut Scones in Baked Explorations. In a ...

http://foodscheming.blogspot.com/2012/02/cold-brewed-iced-coffee.html
Just a girl and her home-baked thoughts. Friday, February 24, 2012. If you have ever been intimidated by the process of making coffee, but enjoy iced coffee, this recipe is for you. Heck, if you just like coffee, this recipe is for you. Nothing could be simpler to make, yet it produces a super smooth, not bitter flavor (what's the opposite of bitter? I'm blanking.I'll just go with smooth. Which is the one coffee of theirs that I have ever wanted to buy a whole pound of.smooth is again the adjective I...

Just a girl and her home-baked thoughts. Friday, January 7, 2011. Lime Kefir Frozen Yogurt. My lovely siblings gave me an ice cream maker for Christmas! Another opportunity for scheming. I'm not an experienced ice cream maker, and in fact unsuccessfully attempted an ice cream recipe twice in October, so I feel like I need to work up to making actual ice cream. I made this l emon kefir ice cream. A few years ago, and very much liked it. Lime Kefir Frozen Yogurt. 1/4 cup lime juice. A good splash of rum.

FoodScheming: August 2010
http://foodscheming.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Just a girl and her home-baked thoughts. Saturday, August 21, 2010. This is a simple and excellent recipe that you will want to keep in your repertoire - as the original recipe. Says, you can make the crisp topping ahead of time and keep it in your freezer for a last-minute dessert option. Heck, you can even sugar the fruit of your choice and store it in your freezer too. Pick any in-season fruit that bakes well; I chose nectarines, but I was really dying to try figs. I was uncertain of how figs bake...

FoodScheming: February 2012
http://foodscheming.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Just a girl and her home-baked thoughts. Tuesday, February 28, 2012. This soup is the product of leftovers from a pizza-making night, plus leftover potatoes from Valentine's Day dinner and a few odds and ends in the kitchen. Pan-roasted potatoes (bake and then pan fry them in canola oil with seasoned salt and pepper) give this a full, toasty flavor (like pizza from a brick oven! Leftover steak fries from a restaurant could work, or leftover. Hash browns or breakfast potatoes. 1 medium onion, diced. They ...

FoodScheming: November 2011
http://foodscheming.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Just a girl and her home-baked thoughts. Tuesday, November 15, 2011. I feel like I'm always showing up in the kitchen at odd times and announcing to my roommate that I'm going to make something incongruous with the moment of the day. This week, it was "sorry for all the noise while you do calculus, I'm making peanut butter.". This chocolate peanut butter recipe. And had lots of peanuts left over. The recipe really is as simple as can be - buzz up the ingredients in the food processor, and it's done!

Just a girl and her home-baked thoughts. Monday, May 31, 2010. Ruen Pair: L.A.'s Thai Town. Anyone who has ever glanced at my blog knows I love cake, but it is probably less evident that my go-to comfort food. Is Thai food. A pile of noodles is always less photogenic than a cute cupcake, so somehow the photos don't make it to the blog world. But regardless of appearances, something about the combination of sweet and spicy just makes me happy.perhaps not shocking since sugar. In LA's Thai Town. The sa...

I can't ring in the new year without paying homage to my mother's plethora of Christmas cookies. With this long-time member of the gang: Chocolate Peanut Butter bars.
