Meet Anarah – MP Photography
https://mpaulphotography.wordpress.com/2013/08/19/meet-anarah
A photographic journal of sorts. Standing in front of more interesting stuff. It’s just a snapshot. August 19, 2013. Meet the newest addition to the family – Anarah. She decided to wait until her exact due date, and she weighed exactly the same as her older brother when he was born. Go figure! We’re glad to have her here – me especially! Pregnancy with a toddler in tow is no picnic. This entry was posted in Black and white photography. And tagged Baby portrait. Black and White Photography. He did) →.

My kid could do that! (he did) – MP Photography
https://mpaulphotography.wordpress.com/2013/10/05/my-kid-could-do-that-he-did
A photographic journal of sorts. Standing in front of more interesting stuff. It’s just a snapshot. October 5, 2013. My kid could do that! Corbin is 2 years old. Well, 2 and a few months, which in kid world is FOREVER! And since he’s such a big boy, it’s only natural that he move on past the boring, dated squishy toys and onto something better. A techno-gadget toy. One that actually. Something. Like my old camera. It has all those wonderful buttons (oops, he turned on the red-eye! House rules: you must a...

A photographic journal of sorts. Standing in front of more interesting stuff. It’s just a snapshot. February 15, 2016. Putting on the educator hat. Well, it’s well into the new year, and as usual, I’m doing a pretty good imitation of a hamster in its wheel. My newest challenge isn’t photography at all – it’s trying to teach my 4.5 year-old what every first grader needs to know. Despite all that, he’s bright, inquisitive, and scarily smart. Hence a conversation the other day at the dinner table:. And righ...

May | 2011 | Musings on Moments

Robert Friel's Photography Blog. Monthly Archives: May 2011. May 2, 2011. Just spent the weekend camping in some ancient (ie has well established native species) woodland on the Sussex / Surrey border. It is wonderful to spend time in real unmanaged places like that with natural wildlife (deer wander through the … Continue reading →. Travelling Light (and not so light). Finished? | Musings on Moments
https://robfriel.wordpress.com/2011/02/25/finished
Robert Friel's Photography Blog. February 25, 2011. Just been musing to myself whether I have ever been totally satisfied which a picture, whether they are ever ‘finished’? With slides it was simple – you got it right in camera and accepted the results. Digital colour is very like Black and White – the final product is not singular and changes in time. I was taken by this when the Ansel Adams at 100 exhibition toured and had some prints made from the same negatives many years apart.
Judging | Musings on Moments
https://robfriel.wordpress.com/2011/03/13/judging
Robert Friel's Photography Blog. March 13, 2011. I somehow got myself roped into judging my photographic society’s Fauna and Flora specialist subject competition on Tuesday night. It will be the first time I’ve publicly critiqued other peoples work! The club has some reasonable criteria, which in short are Gold (artistic and technically good), Silver (not quite gold), Bronze (technically sound but doesn’t quite work artistically), and passed by (flawed). Robert Friel's Photography Blog. Simon Roberts’ Human Landscapes. October 6, 2010. Simon Roberts, one of the most talented English photographers I’ve seen came to present to Brighton and Hove Camera Club last night on his work, which I can only really describe as human landscape photography. I’ve included a link to his work below. Http:/ simoncroberts.com/simonroberts.html. An amateur photographer, who's interested in sharing learning with others! View all posts by Rob Friel →. Abusing Silver Oxide Since 1976. About Luddy’s Lens. What’s that picture in the banner? Just before the holidays, Anthony at ispiderbook. Nominated me for a Blog of the Year Award! If you haven’t clicked on his link from my blogroll yet (and shame on you), his book I Spider. Is a bizarrely funny psycho-thriller of revenge murder and funnel spiders! His whole blog is like that — true life anecdotes and fiction installments that are simultaneously hilarious and cringe-inducing. Always a good read. For choo...

Robert Friel's Photography Blog. Simon Roberts’ Human Landscapes. Autumn Colours →. October 12, 2010. A couple of weeks ago I went on my first trip to Tuscany, and particularly the Val d’Orcia, which must be one of the the most photogenic locations you can imagine! There are some great views close to the main roads around Val d’Orcia, but the best require local knowledge (we had the benefit of local knowledge! To get off the beaten track a bit. Robert Friel's Photography Blog. Newer posts →. September 13, 2010. I thought I’d follow on from the first post with some musings following a Black and White workshop I attended at Lakeland Photographic Holidays. I’m not going to profess to being an expert or to comment on the best way to convert to mono – probably the subject of an essay rather than a quick blog! What draws me to mono images? Why do they have such power? The challenge for me is to do that in my colour images too! August 30, 2010. Right ...

The road to Ben Nevis Nov 2009. The road to Ben Nevis Nov 2009. Thursday, 6 August 2015. A Busy Night at the Compost Heap. A visit to a local organic farm. Last winter taught me that you can compost woodchip. According to Ian Tollhurst you just spread it on the ground and turn it every 3-6 months and within two years you have compost which is good enough for potting out seeds. Here are the visitors recorded last night. She jumps into the compost heap in her haste to escape his attention. Otherwise no...
