Rivers Joinery: July 2014
http://riversjoinery.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Monday, 21 July 2014. I Adze a good weekend. I had a bit of a break from bench work at the weekend. I have had this crooked oak log for a while and decided the time was ripe to convert it into two 'crucks', destined for our allotment gateway. Our allotment looks after our chickens and provides us with fresh vegetables, so it deserves an attractive threshold. I cheated and ripped it with a chainsaw, I didn't want to risk a bad split! A bit of cleaning up with my big adze. There's a fair few in this piece.

Rivers Joinery: January 2015
http://riversjoinery.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, 10 January 2015. Deep in the woods. I've had a few mishaps over the end of the year. I scratched my cornea while machining some timber a few days before Christmas. My small chainsaw gave up the ghost the next day. Then on Christmas Eve my car died. A clear message to take it easy, stop work and eat food. I obeyed. So it was with a happy heart, and fortunately wet weather gear that I headed to Hillyfield for a Timber Extraction course this Saturday morning. This horse loves to work. Maybe the ti...

Rivers Joinery: A piece of Totnes off to Thailand?
http://riversjoinery.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-piece-of-totnes-off-to-thailand.html
Sunday, 24 May 2015. A piece of Totnes off to Thailand? Driving through Totnes yesterday, I passed a sign "Garage Sale". I turned round and went back. This was covered up with a blanket, displaying things on top. Is it for sale? Sorry, I am emigrating to Thailand and taking Granny's hall chest with me. Unusually for me, I like its lack of decoration. A large screwdown holdfast, a brace just like mine, and possibly the shortest chisel in the world. 27 May 2015 at 08:25. Looks to be a bend in it. Rivers Joinery: October 2014
http://riversjoinery.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Monday, 27 October 2014. I acquired the usual old bit of iron from the boot sale yesterday. Ok, its a bit rusty, but its ten prize medals, 1" with a 3 sweep I think, and only 50p. Worth trying to save. We went into the chapel before having a guided tour of the main residence (it is still a family home today). Lovely pew ends. I love the simplicity of this corner cupboard. But this bit of panelling may have arrived in the present day, original and complete. Saturday, 25 October 2014. Into a sleek, polishe...

Woodworking in a Tiny Shop: November 2016
http://tinyshopww.blogspot.com/2016_11_01_archive.html
Woodworking in a Tiny Shop. This is my attempt to record some things I'm doing. It's as much to help me remember some details as it is to share with others. Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Experiment With Angled Dovetails: Poplar Step Stool. I have a step stool that I made several years ago in my power tool days, based on one I read about (if memory serves) on this blog. By a very prolific and inventive fellow. The old step stool. Three boards glued up from scraps from my recent chair project. Penciled in ...

The Slightly Confused Woodworker. Looking like Captain America since 2014. The Slightly Confused Woodworker. Raquo; Workbench Woes. The second change will be the tail vice. My current bench has a tail vice, and I never use it. The vice is nothing special; it is neither great nor a piece of junk. A dog cart made by the Birdsell Manufacturing co. These carts were made very much like the full size wagons the company made. They were popular from the 1870s to the 1920s. They were even sold through the Sears Roebuck catalog. Here the spoke blanks are being planed in preparation for turning the taper. The wheel and running gear repaired.
