Mundane-SF: Mundanespotting Asimov's March 2011

http://mundane-sf.blogspot.com/2011/02/mundanespotting-asimovs-march-2011.html

Reviews and science news (caveat lector: we will transform the way you think about SF). Wednesday, February 09, 2011. Mundanespotting Asimov's March 2011. Posted by frankh at 11:14 AM. Here it is, the actual current issue of Asimov's. 1) "Clean" by John Kessel - good geriatric mundane sf. 2) "Where" by Neal Barrett, Jr. - odd story lacking an infodump, but seems to be about child-like AI robots; maybe it's far future enough to be mundane if you're in the right mood. 8) "Purple" by Robert Reed - aliens.

Reviews and science news (caveat lector: we will transform the way you think about SF). Sunday, September 16, 2007. Take the Third Star on the Left and on til Morning! Posted by Trent Walters at 4:34 PM. Geoff Ryman gave this Guest of Honor speech at BORÉAL 2007 SF convention in Montreal on 2007-04-29. I understand that this translates into French as ‘Profanes’. I think this sounds a lot more exciting, as a movement. I don’t believe in starships. At least not the starships that turn up so regularly i...

Reviews and science news (caveat lector: we will transform the way you think about SF). Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Mudanespotting Welcome to the Greenhouse. Posted by frankh at 11:03 AM. 1) "Benkoelen" by Brian W. Aldiss - Does a rising global tide sink all boats, even the upper middle class ones? This story takes a look-see. 2) "Damned When You Do" by Jeff Carlson - What if a fantastic. Savior is born to fix things? I would give this one satirical mundane credit if it wasn't so sketchy. 7) "The Master o...

Sympathy for the Moon. David Thorpe's musings on writing and current affairs. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Going Underground: The City Where People Continue To Live In Caves. Nottingham Rock Cemetery c. On a recent weekend I took a small tour of some of the tunnels under Nottingham as research for my next novel, which is partly set in the city; and one of the main characters is, for a while, forced to live in the caves. It was a fascinating experience. Nottingham is most famous for being the city of Robin Ho...

Sympathy for the Moon. David Thorpe's musings on writing and current affairs. Sunday, September 16, 2012. Children's publishing is growing - the message from the Children's Writers and Illustrators Group Conference. I thoroughly enjoyed yesterday at the Children's Writers and Illustrators Group Conference. Thursday, July 21, 2005. The scenes I depict below really. Happened in the LOTR2 movie (as I saw it) :. King Rohan and his army camped near the edge of a mountain, preparing for the journey towards Minas Tirith. Aragorn is seen sleeping in his tent. Visions of Arwen are unfolding in his mind. Aragorn is awakened and called upon to see the black-robed figure. Where out came the warring face of Arwen's father! Aragorn gasps and tumbles over. Obviously, that last line was in my imagination only, hahahaha!
