Paper Doll Parade: the temperature of spring: strawberry rhubarb clafoutis
http://paperdollparade.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-temperature-of-spring-strawberry.html
A documentation of inspiration. The temperature of spring: strawberry rhubarb clafoutis. 160;Monday, May 11, 2015 – spring. To understand food is to understand temperature - which foods taste best hot and which ones cold. To cook is a game of controlling, listening to and observing temperatures. To cook well is to know exactly when to turn the heat down, or add just another second or two of scorch. This recipe comes from Sarah Britton'. Sarah's clafoutis recipe calls for apricots, but when I make this c...

Paper Doll Parade: December 2014
http://paperdollparade.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
A documentation of inspiration. Bitter foods for a sweet season: belgian endives bathed in butter. 160;Tuesday, December 23, 2014 – recipe. Christmas looks like it may be grey this year instead of white, but that doesn't make this season any less sweet. In the spirit of relaxing and celebrating, I'm taking off for a couple of week. I'll be ringing in 2015 in Myanmar, a country I know little about and a cuisine that I'm very excited to become acquainted with. Which I've made four times since. She explain...

Paper Doll Parade: food, time and tapenade with figs
http://paperdollparade.blogspot.com/2015/07/food-time-and-tapenade-with-figs.html
A documentation of inspiration. Food, time and tapenade with figs. 160;Friday, July 3, 2015 – featured in. A couple of months ago I started a cooking journal. Maybe to call it that is a bit of an exaggeration, but the idea is to keep a list of things I've been cooking. It isn't about recipes. There are no photos or illustrations. It is just a simple, straightforward list. An inventory of cooking and eating - the good, the bad and the ugly. In other words, I am sorry for the silence this past month. ...

http://paperdollparade.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
A documentation of inspiration. 160;Wednesday, October 29, 2014 – postcards. Don't be tempted to see these black and white postcards as representative of the colour palette of Moscow. The Russian capital was anything but shades of Soviet grey. So although these postcards are the best ones I found, they are misleading. 160; Posted by Sasha. 160; . 160; . Edible souvenirs: the canada edition. 160;Wednesday, October 22, 2014 – edible souvenirs. Well let's start with mustard. It might seem unnecessar...

Paper Doll Parade: postcards from antwerp
http://paperdollparade.blogspot.com/2015/05/postcards-from-antwerp.html
A documentation of inspiration. 160;Sunday, May 24, 2015 – featured in. The rain we expected. The forecast had warned us before we arrived, but we didn't expect the bursts of sunshine, interrupted by wispy clouds. Nor did we expect wanting to stay even longer. Antwerp is a city that one doesn't want to rush. The city is both relaxed and refined, a nearly impossible combination. Antwerp is cool yet chic. It is understated yet elegant. Or maybe I should say a grey sweater? Between recipes for technicolour...

Paper Doll Parade: November 2014
http://paperdollparade.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
A documentation of inspiration. A short season: cranberry pear tart. 160;Wednesday, November 19, 2014 – autumn. Cranberry season is short. And when they are being imported from across an ocean, it is even shorter. Here in Germany the season isn't as strongly on my radar as when I was living in Canada. So when I see fresh cranberries for sale at markets in Munich each year, it feels like a surprise. A good one. And I buy some, regardless of what I was planning to make. Name it and it's got you covered.
