The idea for a Peace Museum came from my son Amanbir. While escorting friends and relatives to the beating Retreat Ceremony at the Wagah Border, Amritsar, he was struck by the jingoism and nationalist fervour, bordering on hysteria, which troubled him. Indeed, it encouraged him to ask questions about the partition of India, its terrible aftermath and lingering consequences. The yearning for peace and friendship, particularly among the youth on both sides of border, gave birth to the idea of a PEACE MUSEUM.
