Thursday, September 28, 2006. My definition of each family of instuments. Woodwind- some kind of cylindrical object that has holes or keys. When you blow in the top the reed vibrates and makes noise. The noises pitch is different depending on which holes/keys you are covering/pressing. Brass- a metal instument with a funnel like mouthpiece. When you blow in your lips vibrate and make a noise. Th noises pitch changes by pressing keys or slideing the tube to make it shorter or longer.
