Musings Amid the Thorns. Essays About Life, Faith, and the Life of Faith. My Mother’s Hands. The nurse timidly entered the room for he could see that we were praying. I’m terribly sorry to interrupt, he said, but you really should remove her ring. Disoriented by grief and fatigue, I glanced down at my mother’s left hand, cradled in mine, and saw the ring. I instinctively twisted it ever so gently to test the tightness of the fit and asked if removing it was absolutely necessary. I asked, still befuddled.

Musings Amid the Thorns. Essays About Life, Faith, and the Life of Faith. There is another Way. Neither rejection nor grand delusion. Holy, often silent… sometimes torturously so. Stridency, militancy… born of fear. These are the enemies. Of that third and quiet Way. Pilot lights still burn. Then settle into recesses of memory and history. Mine… and others’. Swallowed by that blessed stillness…. But for just that moment. Then beckons, darkly, onward. 8220;this little light of mine”. Yours… and mine.

Musings Amid the Thorns. Essays About Life, Faith, and the Life of Faith. Where Bombs Come From. Today, one of my Facebook friends posted a short video that has been widely circulated. A portion of the heartrending recording shows two young Syrian boys grieving the loss of their brother, who was killed by a barrel bomb during an airstrike in Aleppo. How can we do such horrific things? When I saw the video earlier today, I almost immediately recalled my recent encounter while walking. Weapons come in many...

Musings Amid the Thorns. Essays About Life, Faith, and the Life of Faith. Why I Remain Catholic. In response to an invitation from The Anchoress. Elizabeth Scalia, on patheos.com, a large number of Catholic bloggers are weighing in right now in response to the question: “Why remain Catholic even when it is a struggle? 8221; In this short essay, I’d like to add my perspective to this most interesting discussion. I also draw great inspiration from saints like Maximilian Kolbe, whose sacrificial death in th...

A Concord Pastor Comments. On Spirituality, Worship and Prayer in the Roman Catholic Tradition. Pause for Prayer: FRIDAY 5/22. Memorial Day weekend has become known as the "unofficial opening" of the summer season - a notion not at all related to Memorial Day's origins and meaning. It's unfortunate that millions will mark the day with time off and a cookout but fail to pause and spend time to honor those who gave their lives in service of their nation. In the quiet sanctuaries of our own hearts,. And tur...

A Concord Pastor Comments. On Spirituality, Worship and Prayer in the Roman Catholic Tradition. Walk with me, Lord, and show me your face. Guide me on my way, Lord. Musings Along Electric Avenue
Monday, September 19, 2011. Gloria Vanderbilt, now more famous for spawning our favorite Grey Fox, Anderson Cooper, than she is for her once-fabulous jeans, recently pondered over the loss of her other son, Carter, to suicide in 1988. Carter was 23 when he jumped off the balcony of the family's penthouse right in front of his helpless, horrified mother. You never get over it, but you learn to live with it," she said, adding that she thinks about it all the time. Life became one of those "Sliding Doors" o...

Musings Amid the Thorns | Essays About Life, Faith, and the Life of Faith
Musings Amid the Thorns. Essays About Life, Faith, and the Life of Faith. Waiting, it seems to me, is a defining characteristic of the spiritual life. In my mid-twenties, I rediscovered God and eagerly adopted the opening verse of Psalm 63 as a recurring prayer. Oh God, you are my God whom I seek; for you my flesh pines and my soul thirsts like the earth, parched, lifeless and without water. Since that exchange, I have come to view the ache as my companion on the journey. Now, we wait together. Click to ...
(A)musings of A Wandering Mind
A)musings of A Wandering Mind. October 26, 2009. I suppose it’s completely understandable to be filled with doubts and apprehension when you are about to become a parent for the first time. The supermoms and superdads with their superkids fill mere mortals with dread even before baby is born. Insecurity, thy name is a first-time-parent. Posted by Asawari Badve. June 10, 2008. Today, when I look...

Dancing on the edge of the flame on my candle lit tonight. 8220;You are the sky my spirit circles in, the love inside love, the resurrection place. Let this window be your ear. MUSINGS OF A MIXED MEDIA ARTIST
MUSINGS OF A MIXED MEDIA ARTIST. Tuesday, May 12, 2015. JOURNALS.Paying it forward. I started out with a page from a wall paper sample. I then attached the page to a piece of 90 lb watercolor paper that I had messed up with a technique that went haywire. I used 3 colors of paint to do layers using Vaseline for a resist, letting it dry then wiping it between each color.after cutting it in half the lettering was painted on. The tree is made of rigid wrap. The tree book has a poem written by Trish Weaver .

Musings and Art Things
Musings and Art Things. Listen to my art beat. Monday, October 31, 2016. I just finished watching Leonardo DiCaprio's "Before the flood" and I just wonder what is the fucking point of anything? But from this movie. I mean, I think it's great and fucking genius that DiCaprio did this movie, what better way to reach a ton of people than through a movie? Better than music, better than any political channels, a movie is extremely approachable and easy to reach masses with. What do I do? Before or sometimes i...
