Zighy Bay | musingsfromthemiddleeast

https://musingsfromthemiddleeast.wordpress.com/2012/05/31/zighy-bay

Just another WordPress.com site. May 31, 2012. Oman might be my favorite country in the Middle East. It is so different from the UAE. The topography is quite mountainous. The locals are incredibly friendly. We visited Muscat about a year ago and, just a couple weekends ago, in honor of our 1-year wedding anniversary, booked a trip to a different region of Oman called Musandam. Musandam juts into the infamous Strait of Hormuz. The resort is literally carved into the mountains. There are two ways to ge...

Just another WordPress.com site. January 21, 2012. My parents came to visit us in Abu Dhabi in early November (I know, this posting is long overdue! We figured that having them come to the Middle East was not enough of an adventure in and of itself so we dragged them to Cairo for 4 days. My parents trip to the UAE coincided with the Muslim holiday of Eid. A huge bonus because it meant that Jay and I had a 5-day weekend. This slideshow requires JavaScript. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

https://musingsfromthemiddleeast.wordpress.com/about

Just another WordPress.com site. Musings From the Middle East is my attempt to stay connected with my family and friends back home while living in Abu Dhabi. As of right now, we are scheduled to be here until April, 2012. I imagine it to be a collection of musings (hence the name! Videos, and photographs to give everyone at home a better understanding of our life in the UAE. While I will be the main writer, Jay might occasionally make a guest appearance. Just another WordPress.com site. Lady of Leisure No More. October 4, 2011. 8221; I kid you not, every single person around the table responded, in unison, with “Jay’s asked me! 8221; Mortifying…. So there was really no one happier than Jay when this job actually fell into my lap. I do not think I’ve seen him this happy since arriving in Abu Dhabi. My official title is Acting Executive Director of AmCham (short for American Chamber of Commerce) Abu Dhabi. September 19, 2011. To be an interesting read.

The Trip I’ve Been Waiting For | musingsfromthemiddleeast

Just another WordPress.com site. The Trip I’ve Been Waiting For. May 6, 2012. Since day 1 in Abu Dhabi, there has been one vacation that has mattered to me more than anywhere else: The Maldives. There are so many reasons for this: the islands are predicted to disappear within the next 100 years; this is a destination that, while easy to reach from our current location, the flight from the US is a completely different story; and it is supposed to be paradise on earth. And that it certainly was. If there i...

Musings from the Media Center. There was an error in this gadget. Friday, April 30, 2010. As far as I can get down this road! Even with the interruptions (TAKS) and minor chaos that is our everyday life, I have to say that I have found this exercise to be very illuminating. Much has been revealed and I now feel a little closer to becoming a digital native, though I think I will be navigating these waters for many a year before I can have that embroidered on a shirt. I for one have enjoyed the ride/fall!

Musings from the Menagerie came about when I was thinking about all the funny and touching stories that surrounded my life with my multitude of pets, and I decided that I wanted to share some of them with the wider world. Musings from the Middle Ground

Musings from the Middle Ground. Thursday, November 4, 2010. Is there really such a thing as informed consent? In my years as a mother, doula, and childbirth educator I have come to question if informed consent truly exists, and not only in the realm of childbirth. Every choice that we make has pros and cons, but some definitely outweigh the other. As a woman who has experienced many different types of births, I found the following post incredibly interesting. Thursday, July 29, 2010. Monday, May 31, 2010.

Musings From The Mild Side

Wednesday, July 1, 2009. Try Not To Be Too Jealous. I know it's going to be tempting to be incredibly envious as you read this blog post, but please remember that not everyone gets this fabulous opportunity. You can choose from lemon-lime, orange or cola flavored. Mind you, it's not carbonated or even cold, but you have to drink it. I also have to say here that the idea of flat, warm, cola-flavored liquid seriously sends a shiver up my spine. Ick! No such luck. Two days later I get a call from my doc...
