Dance To The Bang Tango: October 2008
http://dancetothebangtango.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Dance To The Bang Tango. Musical ramblings that will try and stay manfully away from 80s Big Hair Metal but is sure to fail. Saturday, 25 October 2008. It’s all too infrequent this lark, wish I had more time to expound upon the great and the good and especially the not quite so good. 1 Stereophonics – Billy Davey’s Daughter. Utter dross. Very sad. 2 The Wedding Present – Kennedy. 3 Pearl Jam – Alive. What do I need to tell you about this? 4 Depeche Mode – Little 15. This plods along in a fetchingly gloom...

Dance To The Bang Tango: November 2007

Dance To The Bang Tango. Musical ramblings that will try and stay manfully away from 80s Big Hair Metal but is sure to fail. Monday, 12 November 2007. Third time's a charm. Here we go again (on my own, probably). 1 Howling Bells - Setting Sun. Australian alt.country noir! Or something. Anyway, it's on Bella Union, which is always a good sign in my book. Juanita Stein (these crazy Aussie names, eh? 2 Bromheads Jacket - He Likes Them Airbrushed. Cockneyfied Monkeys (or Monkees? 3 The Jam - Mr Clean. I enjo...

Mutant Rock: October 2007
http://mutantrock.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Monday, 29 October 2007. Going to the go-go, checking out those mini skirt blues. Last one for today (I reckon I've covered a week of catching up, there) - tomorrow will be back to the billy with some Happy Drivers and possibly Rattlers, as requested. The Vibes - Can You Feel (Big Beat; 1984). A1: The Underestimated Man. A2: Double Decker Bus. B1: Mini Skirt Blues. B2: Stranger in the House. The X-Men - Spiral Girl (Creation; 1985). Albeit with rather idiosyncratic spelling and without an update in sever...

Dance To The Bang Tango. Musical ramblings that will try and stay manfully away from 80s Big Hair Metal but is sure to fail. Friday, 7 March 2008. 1 Duke Special – Something Might Happen. Bittersweet lyrics, a majestic chorus and a poptastic melody throughout, so quite why radio stations the world over aren’t falling over themselves to play this is a mystery. A splendid start to our trawl through the vaults. Get on the phone to Wogan! 2 The National – Theory Of The Crows. The album is full of patchy pseu...

Mutant Rock: ...with a gut provided by a brewery, and bloody great SIZE TWELVE FEET...
http://mutantrock.blogspot.com/2008/02/with-gut-provided-by-brewery-and-bloody.html
Tuesday, 12 February 2008. With a gut provided by a brewery, and bloody great SIZE TWELVE FEET. As promised, it's the Blubbery return of the Hellbellies. I say return, I mean debut. But it's a return for the Mutant Rock (not the wrestling eyebrow type of Rock). It's only a mini LP, and the tracks were included on a CD re-issue of their first full-lengther (hurr hurr) Flabbergasted. The Blubbery Hellbellies - At Large (Upright Records; 1984). 1 - I Don't Wanna Get Thin. 2 - Perfect Woman. 3 - Walk Tall.

Mutant Rock: Live!
http://mutantrock.blogspot.com/2007/12/live.html
Tuesday, 4 December 2007. So I was undecided about posting the live albums last time. So now I'm decided. I'm funny like that (although being asked helps - I'm always open to requests within the scope of this meandering mess. Cheers, chief! The Milkshakes vs. The Prisoners (Media Burn; 1985). A1: The Milkshakes - Shimmy, Shimmy. A2: The Milkshakes - Pretty Baby. A3: The Milkshakes - Did I Tell You. A4: The Milkshakes - Club MIC. A5: The Milkshakes - Black Sails. A6: The Milkshakes - Bo-us Diddley-us.

Mutant Rock: Hello? Hello?
http://mutantrock.blogspot.com/2008/02/hello-hello.html
Monday, 11 February 2008. Yeah, I know. It's been forever. Soz. I do have excuses all lined up. Work has been mental. Answer me that, Brainstein. Well, I confused myself briefly, but I've remembered now so I shall tell you. But I will do so in a separate paragraph, as this one is getting distinctly crowded. Oh, and it will definitely involve anything else I have by the Blubbery Hellbellies, you can count on that (comments are the way forward. I'm a right sucker for them). Anything by the Playn Jayn?
