Deaf-Fining Life: Deaf Homeschooling
http://deaf-fininglife.blogspot.com/p/deaf-homeschooling.html
Ft Dobbs, NC. One of the main reason for this blog is to connect with other Deaf Homeschoolers. There are Deaf parents out there homeschooling Hearing kids, there are Hearing parents homeschooling Deaf kids, and there are Deaf parents homeschooling their Deaf kids. Each is a unique dynamic. I feel like we've been through 2 of these groups (Deaf with Hearing child and now Deaf with Deaf kids as well). I truly believe almost anyone can be a great homeschooler. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Deaf-Fining Life: Going Gluten-Free
http://deaf-fininglife.blogspot.com/2013/10/going-gluten-free.html
Monday, October 28, 2013. Ok so today's post isn't really at all related to deafness (multifaceted remember :). I'm at a point in my weight-loss journey that I'm noticing the scale not moving. It's actually been stuck for a month and half. I'm ready to tear out my hair and chunk it to the wind but instead I did some research and found out something quite accidentally. In fact- all the naggy things that have been tormenting me physically for the last say 5 or so YEARS are from that list! View my complete ...

http://deaf-fininglife.blogspot.com/2014/02/cloth-diapers-101-types-of-diapers-in.html
Friday, February 14, 2014. Cloth diapers 101- Types of diapers in ASL. Today I wanted to share a quick video I did on types of cloth diapers. It's not fancy, captioned, or voiced- sorry hearing friends! Just wanted to share a little about my love for cloth. 3 types I forgot to mention- contoured (similar to prefitteds but lack leg elastics), AI2 (just like AIO but with snap on inserts instead of sewn on), and flats (basically a square piece of fabric usually bamboo that you fold similar to prefolds.

Deaf-Fining Life: No dumb questions?
http://deaf-fininglife.blogspot.com/2014/01/no-dumb-questions.html
Thursday, January 9, 2014. So the other day I'm in local burger joint. I order the meal (using voice with my usual accidental ASL signs thrown in for good measure). Now I speak very well mind you. I was hearing till I was 10 yrs old so. So waitress looks at me with that quizzical look - you know the one- and I know all to well what's coming. Do you know sign language? I brave for- "oh that's neat! I'm learning sign too". Then she takes a left turn and shocks me- " Does it hurt to use your voice? Knotty b...

And we just bought a house so the projects are just coming in left and right. Hope you enjoy our crazy crafting and frugality. Tutu inspired Dance Bags. Building a Trundle Bed.

Deaf-Fining Life: September 2013
http://deaf-fininglife.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Today in our ASL class, Mrs. Tamara was talking about Helen Keller. One of Helen Keller's less famous quotes was, “Blindness separates us from things, but deafness separates us from people.”. What a profound statement. It's so true. Blindness separates us from things (objects in life, what we can't see, colors, light). However Deafness separates us in a much more intimate way. It separates us from people, from relationships, from communication. It leads to misunderstandings.
