McNugget Passes Away After 80 Days of Life | My Backyard Chickens
https://mybackyardchickens.wordpress.com/2010/10/19/mcnugget-passes-away-after-80-days-of-life
McNugget Passes Away After 80 Days of Life. It is always unfortunate when one loses a pet, but to lose one so young was even harder for me. When we first noticed McNugget’s lethargy, we used Google and phone advice from a veterinarian to deduce that McNugget probably had an intestinal infection known as Coccidiosis. After two days of treatment via Slufadimethoxine, and antibiotic, we noticed McNugget has a swollen crop. Below is the eulogy I wrote for McNugget:. When you came into my life, I was afraid a...

Sipping your favorite brand of instant hot cocoa. Since they aren’t making Snuggies for chickens yet, there are a few important tips you should probably be aware of if you want your girls to be comfortable this winter. If you d...

It has been five and a half months since the baby chicks first arrived at our house and we finally got eggs. The Color of Food. Minorities in Agriculture in the US. Racism and Reparations: the Politics of the Claims Resolution Act of 2010. Let’s start by stating the obvious: progress has been made. After 11 years of political wrangling and relegation to political limbo, the House finally passed the Claims Resolution Act of 2010. Which funds the $1.15 billion settlement reached between the USDA. To work to resolve similar claims brought forward by women and Hispanic farmers. 8221; I could gripe about whether the...

Minority Politics at the Dane County Farmer’s Market | The Color of Food
https://coloroffood.wordpress.com/2010/11/20/minority-politics-at-the-dane-county-farmers-market
The Color of Food. Minorities in Agriculture in the US. Minority Politics at the Dane County Farmer’s Market. The following is a story I wrote for a Journalism course. Although it concerns minorities and a farmers market, it is not about minority farmers. Rather, it is about the political activists for non-mainstream causes at the Dane County Farmer’s Market. So if you will pardon the only-tangential-connection-to-agriculture, here is their story:. This Saturday, Larry stands on the south-west corner of ...

Learning About the Meat Before it Gets to You. Baconfest Michigan: My Recap. June 4, 2012. It’s been a while since I wrote about meats and food, so it would take a rare event to break me out of a moderate lull. Luckily, that event arrived this past weekend: Baconfest Michigan. The samplings, drinks, creativity and ambience were too much for me to remain silent. I first spotted Cork Wine Pub who advertised a pork belly slider with pickled red onions, bacon jam, and grainy mustard on a pretzel roll. I ...

It has been five and a half months since the baby chicks first arrived at our house and we finally got eggs. Coincidentally, two of the girls started laying a few days after we put plastic Easter eggs in the nesting areas so they would know where to lay. My Backyard Chooks | Its all about my chooks
Its all about my chooks. This is a website about my pet chooks I have 5 Red Hylines, 5 Silkies. They love to get out and run around. Some of them are easier to catch than others. One night when I went out to put the chooks away I found out that the gate had blown shut with one chook inside on the perch, two were at the back door and we had to go and search for three chooks. We looked all round the yard before we found them all. Milko is a rooster so that means we will be able to have silky babies.
