Learning more about birds. Thursday, 16 February 2012. For our third lesson, we met at Willim's Park on the intersection of Rowbotham and Nelson streets. We learnt about skin, feathers and flying. Of birds is very thin, with no sweat glands. They fluff up their feathers and pant to cool down. Learning more about birds. Thursday, 9 February 2012. Birds at Webb Park. At 1030-11.30, the weather was mild with light breeze and some cloud building up. In rainforest, one stands and waits for birds to emerge, whereas in eucalypts one walks until you find a group or feeding guild. Noisy miners, pied currawongs, pale-headed rosella with notable red vent. We heard a Torresian crow - we don't find the Little crow here. The crested pigeon has a metallic sound. I took a photo of a pale-headed rosella.
