記得小時候,號稱是樹林腳孩子王的那隻貓,常在家附近的泥土地上和其他小朋友玩彈珠,那塊不大的泥土空地,是在二間小房子的中間,這二間房子全都住著我們稱之為榮民的老兵,在當時也不覺得這二間對稱的房子有什麼特別,只覺得最讚的還是二間房子之間這塊又平又沒有草的泥土地,真是太讚了! 幾年後老兵走了,從大陸過來的女兒想要回大陸,所以就把他們住的小房子賣給了貓老爸,家裏已經有足夠的居住空間,所以小房子就出租出去給別人住,而在那隻貓腦子裏也沒有特別對這間小房子有什麼特別的印象。 一直到2005年的七月強烈台風龍王從三棧溪口上岸,直接對花蓮農業造成了超大的傷害, 貓媽的養雞園中的樹都被到半倒了,貓家柚也僅剩十分之一的產量,連已經長期租出去的小房子屋頂也被吹出了一個不小的洞。 屋頂破洞,租房子的人沒法再住,所以搬走了,而為了怕長時間的下雨,持續淋濕屋內的木造結構,那時很快的決定把原本小房子的傳統瓦片屋頂拆除,改成仿瓦片式的鐵皮屋頂(這部份是修小房子時最大的遺憾吧! 貓媽 屋頂修好了,再把裏面整理一下,就可以再租出去! 浴室所有的配件也安裝完成, 浴簾 花撒、布簾、柚子鑰匙圈、漂流木招牌也是純手工製作。

事實上, 從一開始規劃小房子作為民宿時, 就有很努力思考, 希望在所謂花蓮官方設定的七星潭海灣觀光自行車道外, 還能在小房子附近規劃出幾條私房的單車賞玩路線.但重點是, 對那隻貓這個鄉下人來說, 從小在這裡長大, 鄉下景色就是那樣, 還真談不上有什麼特色.不過, 也 就正因為這裡真正是鄉下, 省道之外的路車子本來就少之又少, 沒有什麼大車的阻礙, 更沒什麼貨櫃車砂石車, 以這個觀點來思考, 就似乎任何一條路都可以說是渾然天成的自行車道吧! 最近由於在Garmin的記者朋友Jackie明確提出需求, 等於有了個小小的push, 因此就還算及格的畫了一條路線出來.大家看看, 多多指教囉!
