https://mydevelopmentdiary.wordpress.com/2015/05/05/making-women-out-to-be-the-saviours-a-hard-look-at-womens-empowerment-initiatives

Insights into Field Realities. Skip to primary content. Making women out to be the saviours – a hard look at women’s empowerment initiatives. May 5, 2015. I just came across this paper. Making women work for development, rather than making development work for their equality and empowerment. Although improving women’s opportunities is important, whether this will lead to transforming the unequal rules that are engendered is unclear. 8211; Even a small plot of land. Empowerment only comes from within – thoughts on grassroots development from a development critic | My Development Diary

https://mydevelopmentdiary.wordpress.com/2015/02/04/empowerment-only-comes-from-within-thoughts-on-grassroots-development-from-a-development-critic

Insights into Field Realities. Skip to primary content. Empowerment only comes from within thoughts on grassroots development from a development critic. February 4, 2015. The good news is that the project’s initial assessment speaks to the importance of the work we did and the importance of grassroots development that so many NGOs and development projects no longer do (or did they ever? So when the project consultant came to me I was happy to relay this information: long term, sustainable development nee...

Insights into Field Realities. Skip to primary content. GMO food is ‘Generally Missing Observation’ and Why Smallholders in Africa are so Against Growing it. May 16, 2015. To all of the converted – to those who turn to the quick, technical solutions of GM food for saving the ongoing food crisis – there is something you should know. We actually have enough food in the world to feed everyone (FAO, 2014). Those who are often the hungriest tend to be farmers (Watts, 2013). Why are so many people still hungry?

About Agriculture Extension in Ghana. The Definition of Productivity. Chasing the light North →. No fat people shirts. June 7, 2012. Now, to be honest, I have never considered myself fat. Maybe on the heavier side, sometimes happier than others about my weight, but not fat. Was I ever wrong. At least in a Ghanaian sense. Besides the frequent observations of my fatness (detailed here. I discovered early on how difficult it might be procuring additional western-style clothing for someone of my bulk. Click ...

What does complexity mean? | chasing questions

About Agriculture Extension in Ghana. Somehow I’m terrified. The importance of graphing calculators (and technological literacy, among other things) →. What does complexity mean? May 8, 2012. As funny as this is, it’s simple for us to recognise that it’s also a bit ridiculous. Ghana is a place where this hand-powered sewing machine works alongside stunning runway-quality Ghanaian fashion (pictures from Alex Fox’s Poia di Zorra. This is some of the nuance and complexity I try to explain when I talk about ...

Trust Relationships in Agricultural Extension | Impact, not Intent

https://impactnotintent.wordpress.com/2011/11/27/trust-relationships-in-agricultural-extension

Impact, not Intent. Stranger in a strange land. Trust Relationships in Agricultural Extension. November 27, 2011. I spent the morning yesterday harvesting rice with some farmers in Kpandai. The farmers I was with had planted a local variety of rice seed on their fields. This was interesting to me, as I knew these farmers had access to improved varieties of seeds through MoFA’s Block Farm Program. This is a great example here ( Johnson and Grayson, 2005. Also called ‘reliableness’ or ‘predictability’ rela...

My Development Hell

Insights Into The Creative (? Mind of J.R. LeMar. Monday, January 9, 2017. This was a concept that originated just for fun. I have this online friend named Davita. We haven't met in person as of yet, but we "met" on Myspace about 9 years ago, and have remained in contact ever since. I used that as my Myspace profile picture for awhile. Davita liked the picture. So, just to surprise her, I had CELINA HERNANDEZ. Pretty good job, eh? And asked them to draw this character. Chad finished his image first:.
