KELLY: July 2012
http://kellyinbeantown.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
City mama style, boots books blah blah blah, 90s nostalgia, vintage, short haircuts forever. July 30, 2012. The Time In Between. By David Bergen (2006). Emphasizes that visiting a place does not mean you know that place. Beautifully explores the unmappable spaces of grief and loss. Combines intellectual inquiry (memory, trauma, mourning) with lush, tactile description (a typhoon, fresh bread, thin wrists). Labels: three-bullet book review. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Girls of a Certain Age.

KELLY: three-bullet book review
http://kellyinbeantown.blogspot.com/2012/05/three-bullet-book-review.html
City mama style, boots books blah blah blah, 90s nostalgia, vintage, short haircuts forever. May 14, 2012. By Alan Hollinghurst (2011). Follows fictional First World War poet Cecil Valance through juvenilia, initial fame, early death, canonization, standardization, neglect and revival. Casts aspersions on the intent, utility and reliability of literary history, especially biographical criticism and literary memoir. Yes, if the basic premise. Cameos by poets and critics I've studied! The Strangers Child 3...

Monday, September 19, 2011. Red Carpet Recap: Emmy Awards. So admittedly, I did not watch the Emmy awards last night. I completely disconnected with the world for most of the evening and had forgotten all about them. It makes me sad that I missed it, but from what I've heard it was all Modern Family anyway. Of course not watching the program doesn't mean I can't do a recap of the outfits! Emily Blunt in Elie Saab. Julie Bowen in Oscar de la Renta. Katie Holmes in Calvin Klein Collection. And so it starts.

Archive for June, 2011 Monthly archive page. Move on if you’re easily grossed out. In the physicalities of writing. Over dinner on Friday night, I was telling some non-teacher friends about our UIWP way of thinking, as Patrick aptly said, of “literacy” and “life” as synonyms. They weren’t buying it at all. One of them offered, “What if I hock a loogie into your drink right now. Would that be writing? But they countered, “What about explosive diarrhea. Is that writing? 8220;Well, yeah, explosive diarrhea.

Newer posts →. Past-time, not a sport. July 29, 2011. It occurred to me tonight that baseball is the only “sport” where the players could reasonably be asked to play two back-to-back games and it’s not a big deal. There are no double headers in hockey, basketball, or football. That probably says something about the exertion required for baseball (and the lack of a physical toll on the body), and perhaps also explains why baseball beer leagues work so well. It’s difficult to take the sport seriously.
