Pink is NOT my favorite color!

Sunday, October 31, 2010. Wrapping up Pinkapalooza (I mean, Breast Cancer Awareness Month). Between being back at work full time, amping up my work outs in preparation for the Seattle Half Marathon that I may or may not run (do you have any idea how uncomfortable running with tissue expanders is? I also haven't much to say about breast cancer, which is a really good thing, right? It was a great party for an amazing cause. Brian and I also signed up to do the Komen 3 Day for the Cure. Pink is NOT my favorite color!: August 2010

http://myfightagainstpink.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 13, 2010. After 11 months and 11 days, two biopsies, 2 mammograms, 2 PET scans, 3 MRIs, 18 rounds of chemo, a major surgery, and 28 radiation fractions, I am officially DONE with active treatment. Remission is a sweet, sweet word, but I'm not sure I'll ever be cured. Pink is NOT my favorite color! Monday, August 9, 2010. Thank you, Christopher Hitchens. I stumbled across this fantastic piece by Christopher Hitchens, " Topic of Cancer. In the September issue of Vanity Fair. Pink is NOT my f...

Pink is NOT my favorite color!: Not for the faint-hearted

http://myfightagainstpink.blogspot.com/2010/08/not-for-faint-hearted.html

Monday, August 2, 2010. Not for the faint-hearted. I just started my fourth week of radiation today.I have eight fractions left, and then I will officially be DONE with active treatment and in remission! She told me she'd stop the bolus (YAY! And also gave me silver cream (and described it as Neosporin on steroids! To use if my skin breaks open. Sure enough, by Saturday, it did. There's some lovely fresh pink skin poking out under the charred mess over it. My underarm after 20 radiation fractions:. Thank...

Pink is NOT my favorite color!: May 2010

http://myfightagainstpink.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 19, 2010. That's Navy speak for "nothing to report." For me, that's kind of a good thing; for the blog, not so much! In a couple of days, I have my first physical therapy appointment. I'm really looking forward to improving my range of motion, particularly in my right arm. I have some signs of slight Axillary Web Syndrome. Under my right arm where I had my lymph node dissection. This condition is pretty common, and easily correctable through special massage and stretching. For my employer ...

Pink is NOT my favorite color!: July 2010

http://myfightagainstpink.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 26, 2010. It's amazing the difference three months makes. Last Friday, I had my first infusion since my last round of chemo in April. I was given Zometa,. My oncologist said that I looked great and was pleased with my radiation progress. We, again, (I claim chemo brain here.we'd discussed it before, but I needed to hear it again! Went over my care plan, which looks like this:. Clinic visits every three months for two years, to include lab work and tumor markers. I had my daily dose of radiat...

Pink is NOT my favorite color!: To My Baby Sister

http://myfightagainstpink.blogspot.com/2010/09/to-my-baby-sister.html

Saturday, September 25, 2010. To My Baby Sister. You worked your butt off to raise funds and train for these three days and 60 miles of walking because you felt the need to do more. It wasn't necessary. Walking 60 miles three months after having a baby is a very impressive feat, and definitely something I didn't expect you to do. But you were determined, a quality that I've always admired in you. You wanted to make a difference.and believe me, you have. Pink is NOT my favorite color! Sis, Im the lucky on...

Still just breastfeeding, taking a bottle 3-4 times a week of pumped milk when I go to my workout class at night. This month Lane also started pooping a lot less- woo hoo! Instead of every diaper, he is now down to 3 or 4 times a day- progress! He nurses every 2-3 hours the day, sometimes 4 hours during nap. Lane still has blue eyes! He also went to church ...

The Long Haul: Lane is: Six Months

http://ourlonghaul.blogspot.com/2014/09/lane-is-six-months.html

Lane is: Six Months. 160;Tuesday, September 30, 2014 –  Lane Monthly. Head is 17.5" (75%). Wearing 6 month clothes, though probably moving into 9 months soon. At 55 months, on 7/21, Lane had his first "meal"- carrots, green peppers and peaches. He mostly just sucked on them. For a little bit he just had supper with us and then started having lunch when I ate also. Once he realized that he could have food, he would be upset if we ate in front of him without sharing! Maybe a side effect of crying it out?

Lane is: Five Months. 160;Wednesday, July 23, 2014 –  Lane Monthly. At home (approximate) measurements:. Had his four month shots and his sleep was interrupted with a couple of nights that had a wake up in the middle of the night, but then he went back to sleeping the whole night, usually 10 or so hours from 7 or 8-5 or 6. Lane outgrew the bassinet and started sleeping in the Pack n Play in our room. 3-6 month clothes have started getting a little short and we moved into 6-9 month onesies. The week we we...

Lane is: Two Months. 160;Saturday, April 12, 2014 –  Lane Monthly. 12 lbs 3.5 oz, 50% (it blows my mind that he is almost FIVE pounds more than at birth). Nurses every 2.5-3 hours during the day. Still sleeps in the Rock n Play next to our bed. Every time I try the bassinet, he wakes right up. Goes easily back and forth between breast, bottle (both wide mouth and regular nipples), and pacifier (Soothie and Mam). Is in 0-3 month clothes still, though he goes go in some smaller 3-6 month clothes. Frederick...

This month we had a visit from a physical therapist for an Early Intervention consult for torticollis. She said he looks alright and he doesn't qualify for EI. She gave us some exercises for his neck and scheduled a follow up appointment to confirm that he is getting better and not worse. Lane still has blue eyes! 160; Posted by Samantha. 160;  . 160;  .

Lane is: Seven Months. 160;Tuesday, September 30, 2014 –  Lane Monthly. Lane is now fully in 9 month clothes and I actually bought some fall/winter stuff in 12 months because I don't think 9 months will last very long! Naps started going okay- maybe a half hour or 45 minutes in the morning, around 9 am and then a couple of hours in the afternoon around 1, but usually he wakes up after a half hour or 45 minutes and has to be convinced to go back to sleep for the rest of the nap. We started breakfast this month, so Lane is now eating solids for 3 meals a day, in addition to nursing every 3-4 hours. Lane is sitting up a lot and much more sturdy than before! In addition to sitting, Lane has started spinning in circles on his belly to follow up around the room, or find his toys. It is only a matter of time until he is crawling! Since I am back at wor...

The Long Haul: The First Two Months

http://ourlonghaul.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-first-two-months.html

The First Two Months. 160;Wednesday, April 16, 2014 –  Lane. We have been blessed with such an EASY baby. (I am afraid saying that will jinx myself.) He never had days and nights mixed up, he has never had a problem latching or nursing, and I would say he sleeps really well for a newborn. I am just going to say that the easy baby part is to compensate for the horrible hospital experience. I was dreading doing Couch 2 5k again since it is such a long program. I do look forward to the next baby when I won'...

My Fight Against Lung Cancer

My Fight Against Lung Cancer. I discovered about two weeks before Xmas 2008 that I have a lung tumour. To be given this news at any time would be a hard pill to swallow but to be told while planning a big family get together was devastating. After recovering from the initial shock we were faced with a dilemma. Do we tell the family or do we try to hide it from them until after Xmas? Thursday, 21 January 2010. Tarceva 100 mg Day 89. On the 6th Jan, which is my birthday, I went down with a very nasty virus.
