Young Jedi: Luray for my Birthday

http://www.myflyingdreams.com/2011/11/luray-for-my-birthday.html

Sunday, November 20, 2011. Luray for my Birthday. We were supposed to go to Luray. We took off runway 14 and hit immediate turbulence. I'd gotten a standard weather briefing a half hour before take-off and and no turbulence had been mentioned, so it was a bit of a surprise. I assured Rich that although it felt pretty rough, it was actually only moderate turbulence, and nothing the plane couldn't handle. We followed my favorite flight route Northwest from Gaithersburg. Out of an abundance. Of the plane in...

Young Jedi: Flight of the Nanchang

http://www.myflyingdreams.com/2009/09/flight-of-nanchang.html

Thursday, September 3, 2009. Flight of the Nanchang. Just arriving at Colin's hangar is exciting. You know there are going to be cool planes and plane pieces as far as the eye can see, but you never know exactly what projects they are going to be working on until you get there. At Christmas, the hangar was full of sea planes. This time, there were not one, but two T-28s - both with equally beautiful paint jobs. Colin pressurized the engine on the Chinese built Nanchang CJ. 6 we would be flying, pre.

Young Jedi: July 2008

http://www.myflyingdreams.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Sunday, July 27, 2008. In The Presence of Greatness. As Gillian and I headed out to the airport, I couldn't help but think how cool it was that only last summer I had embarked on a 3 hour drive to visit Juan and Carlos (my Godson), and now I was planning on a 50 minute flight to New Garden, Pennsylvania. Gillian and I arrived at the airport only slightly behind schedule (but with iced coffees in hand) to find Romeo pre-flighted and ready to go. (Thanks, Rich! Rich and I marvelled that the grass strip int...

Young Jedi: Oshkosh

http://www.myflyingdreams.com/2009/07/osh-kosh.html

Thursday, July 30, 2009. You can forget about the B'Gosh. For one week each year, Oshkosh, Wisconsin is focused on general aviation instead of overalls. Rich and I decided to fly in his Baron, and then Rich joined the B2Osh group, who fly and arrive at Oshkosh in formation. I was thrilled by this development, as formation flight seemed extra cool, and it also meant that I got to fly with Derek deBastos while he trained Rich. Before I could respond, Rich chimed in, "Yeah, and is her fiance ever pissed&#46...

Young Jedi: Triple Play

http://www.myflyingdreams.com/2009/08/triple-play.html

Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Three flights in three days. If storms hadn't of prevented our flight to Montreal, it would have been four in four and then I could have called this blog "Four Play.". Alas, sometimes there is a downside to having the call sign Strikefinder. The race was on from Gaithersburg. Richard needed to stop and get gas, but he took off first, and his Baron is a good deal faster than the Tiger, so neither of us had the clear advantage. Except that the girls won. Afterwards. All too so...

My Journey as a Private Pilot. August 27, 2011. So, I have been averaging a flight every 30-45 days or so (thank you, work). I hope to cut that down to about at least once every 3-4 weeks, at a minimum. Laquo; X-wind at Fort Meade (FME). Great videos Brian, what kind of camera are you using? My Journey as a Private Pilot. May 14, 2011. X-wind at Fort Meade (FME). I decided to take a 1/2 day off from work this past Tuesday and take advantage of the beautiful weather in the area. I wanted to fly on Saturday but the weekend wasn’t looking too good. The METAR showed light winds all day the blue skies = Great day to fly! Hours logged: 1.2. Laquo; Cambridge for Breakfast. My Journey as a Private Pilot. January 12, 2012. Instrument and Commercial Ratings – Here I Come…. So, one year after receiving my Private Pilot Certificate, I am about to embark on another adventure – an Instrument Rating, followed closely by my Commercial Rating. My ultimate goal is to become a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) within the next two years. The beauty about all of this (besides being able to fly a lot)? Getting most of it paid for using my Post 9-11 GI Bill. :). Laquo; Airspeed Junkie.

My Journey as a Private Pilot. December 16, 2011. Full disclosure here. Airspeed Junkie found Runway18 and offered me one of their products in exchange for a review and I was more than happy to oblige! What I will say about the company itself is that they are extremely responsive to communication and delivered the product via expedited service. Having a good product is only half of the battle; having great customer service is the other. I’ll most definitely being stopping by again soon! Keith J. Jones.

I made the best dress ever. It's true. We can all stop trying now. Last weekend I made this. It fits perfectly and it's super cute. I'm not sure it can be beaten. This pattern is New Look 6020. You see that 'Easy' label? The skirt fabric was chosen by Mr C. As it's a heavy drill, I didn't want to use it for the bodice like I did for my apple dress. Which unfortunately has facing that sometimes rolls to the outside due to the weight). I used a black poplin instead, and this worked perfectly. This weekend ...
