Hackers' Special: How to Partition a Drive
http://tut4hack.blogspot.com/2008/10/how-to-partition-drive.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2008. How to Partition a Drive. We ‘ve talked about the why; now let’s look at the how. Suppose I’ve got that 1.2 GB and I want to chop it up into some smaller drives. It might look like. You can use FDISK to do this. The disk gets divided into two partitions, a “primary DOS partition,”and an “extended dOS partition;” The first step is to divide the example 1.2 GB drive into a primary DOS partition of 950 MB and an extended DOS partition of 250 MB. Hackers' Special: Physical or Low-Level Formatting
http://tut4hack.blogspot.com/2008/10/physical-or-low-level-formatting.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Physical or Low-Level Formatting. When first manufacturedd, a drive has only tracks and cylinders—no sectors. Physical or low level, formatting, is a process whereby the sectors are “drawn” on each track, using magnetism as the “ink” Low level formatting also tests the disk surface after the sectors are drawn. The low-level format process not only tests the disk medium itself,it also write out the sector IDs that will be used by DOS to locate data on the disk. All About Hard disk.

Hackers' Special: The partitition record or Master Boot Record (MBR).
http://tut4hack.blogspot.com/2008/10/partitition-record-or-master-boot.html
Monday, October 13, 2008. The partitition record or Master Boot Record (MBR). This contains the disk partition information to divide the physical drive into logical drives. On auto-configure controllers, it also contains a few bytes that describe the disk. This resides on cylinder 0, head 0, sector 1. The remaining sectors on the first cylinder/head are unused. Hackers' Special: October 2008
http://tut4hack.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2008. All About Hard disk. Hard disks are where most of a PC user’s data lives. Since the data on your system is the most valuable part of the system, it stands to reason that the hard disk is, in some ways, the computer’s most important part. Disk Geometry: Heads,Tracks,Cylinders and Sectors. Like a floppy disk, the hard disk has an electromagnetic read/write head for each side of each platter. For example, on the original XT 10MB drive, there were four heads: two heads/platter ...

Hackers' Special: Disk Performance Characteristics
http://tut4hack.blogspot.com/2008/10/disk-performance-characteristics.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Some disk/controller combinations are faster than others. we measure drive speed by looking at how long it takes to find a particular piece of data, and once the piece of data has been found, how quickly it can be read off the disk. The first is called the access time and the second is called the data transfer rate. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 100 WAYS OF EARNING ONLINE FREE. An overview of the Forex Market. Hackers' Special: Partionining Options
http://tut4hack.blogspot.com/2008/10/partionining-options.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Nowadays, people partition their drives for two reasons: to support multiple operating systems (history repeats itself, although this time it’s OS/2, NT, Linux, and Windows/DOS that are on the partitions, rather than Xenix), and to use disk space more efficiently. Hackers' Special: Disk Heads
http://tut4hack.blogspot.com/2008/10/disk-heads.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Like a floppy disk, the hard disk has an electromagnetic read/write head for each side of each platter. For example, on the original XT 10MB drive, there were four heads: two heads/platter x two platters. Because the disk drive is sealed, you don’t have to worry about aligning or cleaning these heads and, besides, you couldn’t do those things even if you wanted to, as they are inaccessible. Hackers' Special: T AB L E Access Time Formula
http://tut4hack.blogspot.com/2008/10/t-ab-l-e-access-time-formula.html
Tuesday, October 14, 2008. T AB L E Access Time Formula. ACCESS TIME = SEEK TIME RATIONALLATENCY PERIOD. Time to find a sector = Time to move Time to wait for the sector. To the sector’s to rotate around. The two components are called seek time and latency period. Seek time is the time required for the head to position over a track. Latency period is how long it takes for the desired sector to move under the head. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 100 WAYS OF EARNING ONLINE FREE. All About Hard disk.
