journey through paradise: February 2010
http://mybotanicalspace.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 24 February 2010. The only place to see this lovely Etlingera is at the Singapore Botanic Garden's Ginger Gardens. It can be found blooming occasionally behind the waterfall. The foliage is dark green, which adds to the ornamental beauty of this ginger. In addition, the leaves release a strong ginger scent when crushed. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Monday, 28 June 2010. Monkey Pot, or Olla del Mono, is a term to describe not only L. zabucajo, but a number of other closely related species, including: Lecythis elliptica, Lecythis grandiflora, and Lecythis pisonis. journey through paradise: time for an update
http://mybotanicalspace.blogspot.com/2011/06/time-for-update.html
Thursday, 30 June 2011. Time for an update. The last post was dated 15 May 2011, which was the day I was meant to move into my new place. I ended up moving on 31 May 2011, which explains the hiatus as the last few weeks were understandably hectic. I tend to be a little of a control freak when it comes to the garden and prefer to take my time to ponder about where to plant what. Having workers around me disrupts my ability to think and plan. I therefore generally prefer to work alone. I have a soft spot f...

journey through paradise: updates!
http://mybotanicalspace.blogspot.com/2011/05/updates.html
Sunday, 15 May 2011. I've been extremely tardy with my updates, mainly because work has been keeping me busy, plus most weekends are now spent fussing over the construction of my house. The last 6-months or so has seen me attending weekly site meetings, driving all over town in search of fittings such as lights, sanitary ware, iron-mongery and of course, not forgetting the all important plants and trees. Come on, he's not talking to a plant ignoramus here! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I have a fai...

Monday, 29 March 2010. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The glory of gardening: hands in the dirt, head in the sun, heart with nature. To nurture a garden is to feed not just the body, but the soul. Show me your garden and I shall tell you what you are. - Alfred Austin. I am just a simple gardener and collector of tropical plants. In my spare time, I love to wander around Singapore on field trips with the sole purpose of hunting, documenting and taking photos of rare native, new or forgotten species of plants.
